Tactical Strength Challenge

The purpose of the TSC is to test absolute strength (deadlift), bodyweight-relative strength (pullups), and cardiovascular endurance (kettlebell snatches). The three events test a unique trade-off between these abilities. Heavier participants have an advantage in the deadlift, lighter participants have an advantage in pullups. The kettlebell snatch tests all participants more or less equally

I'm happy enough with where my pullups and KB snatches are, but I haven't deadlifted in a long time. Quite looking forward to putting a stake in the ground in May.

Where is it on? I don't see an irish location on the list.
And what division are you looking at, Novice, Open or Elite

I don't agree with "The kettlebell snatch tests all participants more or less equally". Sounds like soemthing Pavel came out with.
There's no way a 24kg snatch test is the same for a 70kg guy and a 100kg guy.

I would worry too much about the deadlift. Every extra 10kg is worth the same as every rep on the pull-ups or 5 reps on the snatch.

I'm based in the UK now, and the place where I train is hosting one (Bodyology, Bracknell), but they can be hosted anywhere:

I'm gonna enter men's open, and see how I go, but as a 70kg-ish guy, I agree with your point re. the snatches not being 'more or less equal'!

Similar boat here. I can snatch a 24kg kbell a couple of time but I'm wasted on a 5 minute test. But I should fly through 16kg. Novice should be 20kg imo.

Pull-ups are my biggest downfall. No point in my doing the Open class if it's +10kg.

There is one in Sydney. But its a good bit away from me. I might jsut do my own test day at the time and compare to the results.

Had a brief panic there, but double checked- open is bodyweight for pull ups. Just the elite category is +10kg.

Definitely the type of test you can measure yourself on to see where you stand. Probably need a spotter/ judge to ensure you're being strict/ consistent though ;-)

    Sorry my mistake.
So only the Kettlebell differs. 5 Mins of 24kg snatches. What's a good target. 100 reps is benchmark for RKC
