Possible to change thread title to Wednesday - Thursday ?

I'll go for some sleet and hail showers in the west and north Wednesday morning as the cold front passes through and then Eastern areas too towards evening , with possible snow accumulations above 300m ( problem would be ground being already saturated from the night before )

Id gladly be happy with some sleet and hail showers though at this stage.

    THoughts people? :)

At the risk of getting beat down by snow lovers, I reckon that'll change in the next 2/3 runs. Doesn't seem right as all the charts previously were slowly zoning out that cold air mass.

Then again, I've seen stranger things :pac:

I agree , I didn't even go look previous runs ha! Just went by the one run. Shall be home from college later and I'll look at the ECM aswell as others and include the 18z .

I just want some more beefy hail showers to go photographing ! Ha

I heard a bit of the weather forecast on BBC newsline earlier. All I heard was a "return to wintry weather at the weekend."
I checked the UKMO and nothing there. Just that after a changeable week it will be more settled.

The rumours have started about the Snow word though. Heard it from a few people while out and about today.

My first chance to get on here today...So will it or wont it?? My crystal ball is broke. :D:D

Edit: Heavy wet snow now, strong wind making for some impressive showers :)

Still only 4.4C here with significant wind chill, a downpour of hail at the moment. Some impressive sheets of hail as the showers pass by

    Galway around 10.30 this morning:

Showers not remotely heavy and pass through in seconds. Chilly wind though which makes me long for a hot summer all the more.

Edit Rainfall accumulation map showing where the heaviest showers have occurred over the last 12hrs:

Not exciting in itself but gives a nice idea as to how showers affect the country under polar westerlies at this time of year. What will be just as interesting to monitor is how similar set ups later in the spring and summer affect the shower distribution across the country. The heaviest showers then are more likely to affect the very areas that are seeing the least at the moment due to the increased convective potential overland as things begin to heat up. (or mild up at least!)
