Tidy start from Rory, only two back on Sabbatini.

Clarke, Harrington and McDowell all out this evening also, so plenty to support this week.

wonder what the coverage will be like later on and all weekend? Hopefully not just concentrated on 2 or 3 golfers.

Good start by McIlroy. Never used that shot tracker before - hard get work done now!!

Vary interesting the hear him speak about the stratgey and shot selection over those 3 holes.

McIlroy is only worth a place bet, Paddy knows that too I suspect.

Padraig just yipped a tiddler, that not a good sign, perhaps suggests what pressure he feels he's playing under

Manky effort for a putt, even worse than tiger, not good at all..

that was some facepalm of a moment alright.

he did well to get back in at par. going well today too was -3 at one stage now at -2.

right back in it if he can keep it steady thru the bear trap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

ah i see he's played the 2nd 9 first. so he's thru bear trap!

and according to the ever reliable shotracker... has hit some kind of miracle shot on 18... what are the odds shotrackers trying to be funny again?

Gmac flying today -6 on his round and -3 for the tournament right in the middle of the bear trap now though.

PH another bogeyed par 5. At least there's only 2 par 5's on the course this week! Still -2 overall, 21st place but with a large part of the field behind him on the course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

What a round from McDowell, ties the course record 64 and had two bogies thrown in there as well.
Will need another one again tomorrow though, course seems to be playing bit easier this year than it normally does.

Thats some going, does anybody know if they are still placing on the fairways?

Edit: Says on the PGA Tour site that it was a new course record, so there probably wasn't any.

That's one hell of a round by a rookie, smashed the course record by 3 shots.

Rory's missed 2 short birdie putts the last 3 holes, less than 10 feet between the two of them

Handy while waiting for the coverage to start.

Shot Tracker and the live blog on Golf.com are the best places for updates.

    Perfect stream - http://mypremium.tv/

Probably best to PM the stream links now lads, copyright infringement etc etc. That plonker Sean Sherlock is to blame.

Did anyone see the flight of McIlroys drive on 13 (I think), fook...! Some unreal scores in considering the conditions.

Really like this course, loads of cool holes, especially 15

Rory had a savage sandy 2 holes ago but if he gets up and down from that plugged lie he'll be more than happy, very poor approach shot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Great shot there by Rory, should get that shot back now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭jjll

great 3 shots from that group really was all peppered flag

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,690 ✭✭✭Whyner

Yeah, didn't take long. I'd stay in every night if he was playing

From some of the few shots i've seen of Rory, it looks like he playing a lot more cut off shots. Wonder if he has been practicing his wind game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,690 ✭✭✭Whyner

I agree, really holding off his follow through, played lots of them last week also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,057 ✭✭✭irish bloke

Poor aul Davis just chuncked 2 in a row. You dont see that often from these guys...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Make that 1 back of Justin as Rory birdied the 18th to get to -7.

Good round by Mc Ilroy again. -7, 1 shot of the lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Good finish by McIlroy. He just seems to be on cloud 9 at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭jjll

at the moment rory always seems to bring in at least one bad round were he goes off boil.... cut shots would suit agusta if memory serves dont it so might have learned lesson from last year

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,333 ✭✭✭Tones69

Would love to see rory win this one, his last few holes were great, dropped a stroke then makes a few birds and now just 1 off the lead, weapon
