    Hi

I have just started a new diet and I feel exhausted in the morning

I am female 35, 5ft 4, 144 lbs. 31% body fat. My PT calculated that I need to eat 1200 kcals per day for weight loss
    120g protein, 120g carbs and 270gs fat.

Am trying to stick to this - however I feel exhausted in the morning - difficult to get out of bed.. will this feeling pass or should i modify this diet?

what type of foods are you eating? what time do you eat these foods?
have you giving up caffeine which could be causing this?
you taking a good multi vitamin?
how many hours you sleeping? if your just into a new diet that is often normal to a degree as people are coming down from things like sugar etc i find so first few days often worst when changing a diet.
    hope this helps :)

    typical breakfast would be
baked salmon - 3-4 oz, with some cream cheese - 7am

snack, 2 boiled eggs with cucumber 11am
lunch - 4-5 oz prawns with green salad - 1pm
    snack - blueberries or nuts - 4pm
dinner - chicken breast with lots of green veg 6:30

I have cut down on caffeine, cut out bread, pasta, potatoes, completely
I also eat turkey, tuna, omlette with spinach, mackarel, cod. Haven;t been eating as much red meat lately - could this be the cause?

your probably feeling tired cause your missing out on a whole food group!!!
    where is your carbohydrates?
on low carbohydrate diets you do lack energy and fatigue is far easier!!
id imagine that is why your tried in the morning !
try having some porridge and blueberries maybe in the morning? see how you get on then
i know when i was on low carb diet i felt tired all the time!!!

so did you calculate that it meets the "120g protein, 120g carbs and 270gs fat" requirement? to me it looks like you could be close on protein, most likely not enough carbs, and where is the 270 g of fats in your food?
EDIT: OK, you might me close to 27g of fat :o

    do you get enough sleep?
try having some porridge and blueberries maybe in the morning?

she'd need to get out of the bed first to make it, and that's already a problem

There must be a mistake on your macronutrients there as that works out as a lot more than 1200 kcals.

    120g protein x 4kcal per g = 480
    120g carb x 4kcal per g = 480
    270g fat x 9kcal per g = 2430

    = 3390 kcal?

Just got to say 120g protein, 120g carbs and 270g fat doesn't add up to 1200kcals.

hmm... it equals 1203 kcal with 27g of fat :o

thanks all, sorry original post should read 30g of fat!!

For carbohydrates, not sure what to eat, when the PT did the original assessment he said i was eating way to many carbs and to cut them down

I eat sweet potatoes, lots of green veg,
No this isn't the dukan diet as far as I know

Weight/measure your food and put it into an online calorie counter. They normally add up how many protein/carbs/fat your taking in
