    Hi all,
I am really a lover of salt, I know its bad all round but are there any other salt lovers trying to give it up? If so how? Its very hard to stop adding it to your food, any spices that are particularly good?

Never have salt at the table.

As you get used to not adding it to your food, your taste buds will recover and you'll actually start noticing the different flavours you can taste naturally.

Food will start to taste better and better. Hard to believe I know, but it's true.

    Give it a few weeks.

I only use it on meat before baking, or in scrambled eggs.
All other food started to have taste... especially things I used to boil in salted water before.
    Give it a try :)

I'm the same, I love salt and I know it's so bad. A trainer told me that Himilayan pink salt is an excellent low sodium alternative - very tasty and a great way of weaning yourself off the bad stuff. It is a bit on the expensive side and I have yet to try it but it's supposed to be good!

I used to have salt on my food but then one day just decided to give it up. 18 months later and I've no regrets.

The trainer hasn't a clue - Himalayan salt is almost exactly the same as regular salt.

so is salt bad or not?? For me its a weight loss issue, could it be hampering my loss?

Yes its bad for you. Contributes to heart disease, high blood pressure, and especially bad for weightloss as it makes the body retain water. I love it too, but have cut it drastically since starting my diet. I've lost 4 stone and have about 1 and a half stone left to go to target. Its getting to be a real slog now.:D
