Do pharmacy-located weighing scales vary much?

I took a reading in a pharmacy 2 weeks ago and went to a different one today. The last one corrected calculated my height too, this current one was off by 6 inches. The second reading indicates I weight >60lbs more than 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if that's even possible, however I'm not too sure which scales to believe. I was looking for a baseline weight so I can measure progress. I know I could have put on some weight in 2 weeks but more than 60lbs doesn't seem feasible, even if I am a big greedy brute to begin with. FWIW the first scales I used seemed a lot sturdier than the second. Is there a brand of pharmacy scales that is considered more accurate than others?

I tried them (when on holiday in particular) and I always found them to be unreliable, sometimes out by as much as 3 or 4 kg's.

I bought a scales in Argos a while back for ~€5-7, took it home, lashed a 5kg DB on it and it was spot on. Much easier.

I'm too fat for their cheaper scales though. :(

The only way you can be sure is to get your own and be consistent in using it. Different scales will give slightly different readings, that's natural. Also, a given publicly used one may get used and abused alot and may be damaged at any given time.

Buy your own, that way you know it's always going to be the same. And measure your self consistently, ie. at the same time every day and not before your dinner one day and after it the next.
