About 4 months ago i started to change my life around and finally "do something about it."
I changed my diet and started doing some exercise and the weight is coming off, I found it reasonably easy to stop the junk
but I'm finding the most difficult thing is to stop eating bread.

Before i could make a sandwich out of almost anything.
I have almost cut it out but i wanted to ask, if i was to have some Brown Bread what type would be the best option.
Whole grain, Rye bread, Linseed bread, Soya bread, Soda bread etc. etc.
as long as it tastes like bread and is not to expensive i'll try it.

    Thanks for any responses.

If you're trying to reduce/cut bread altogether I'd highly recommend using wraps instead.

    Why.
Wraps are carbs just like bread. As is brown bread.

You can use iceberg lettuce leaves instead of wraps. I also shred it into a bowl to bulk out stuff like chilli.

Ryvitas are very light might help some people who want some sort of bread fix, 3 ryvitas are about the same weight & cals as a single slice of mc cambridges soda bread.

Thanks guys for your replies but i think i have nailed it now.
It was just getting used to new things,
I have changed so much lately and the weight is coming off great.

I have loads to lose but it really is a change of life style and not a "diet"
the exercise is helping me get fitter and i'll be investing in a rowing machine very soon.
anyway i'm over the bread thing now.

    thanks.

What changes did you bake Re bread?? Did you cut it out or find an alternative?

I wasn't eating a lot of bread, more bagels...

I replaced them with rice/corn cakes. Not a great taste, but I'm more interested in what I put on them, they are only a veh-ical for other tasty food.

I just stopped gradually, now i'm not bothered about it much,
i still like it and would rather have the real thing but less often than a substitute that was not as nice,
At first i was driven mad but i'm totally over it now.

Avoid normal breads that are 100 calories each or more, rye crackers and small bread is 50 calories a slice it's good to get whole grain

If the weight is coming off why would you worry about the bread.. Just have it in moderation...

Ok I'm putting up my food planner but before i do i need to say that,

1, I’m no expert on food, nutrition or exercise and there are plenty of better qualified people here on boards to give you much better advice than i can.

2, This is what i am doing, it’s working for me and thats great,

    3, I’m on a serious tight budget,

5, If you have any helpful advise or recommendations for me then please go ahead.

5, If you just want to give me **** about how wrong i am then please don’t bother.

7, Drink **** loads of water,

7, I’m only putting it up because I've been asked to, thats all.

I usually have the same breakfast most days, it would be :-

3 scoops (45g) of Flahavan’s quick oats made with 125 ml. water and 125 ml. low fat milk.
    1x Banana
    2 Glasses of Water.

Min Morning Snack, 1 x fruit and 2 glasses water

Lunch would be very similar each day but would be a nice smallish bowl of mixed Salad with.
Chicken, Tuna, Ham, Salmon, Crab, or egg. (usually what over from the night before)
    2 glasses of Water

Afternoon Snack, 1 x Fruit and 2 glasses water

Main evening meal would rotate around salads but would be one of the following,
When i say salad i mean big salads with Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickled Onions, Mixed Peppers, Cucumber, Hard Boiled Egg, Beet Root, Radish, Raw Broccoli, Grated Carrot, Scallions, Branston Pickle, Mustard and anything else i might have forgotten to say,

Chicken or Turkey Dinner with Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Peas, Sweet corn, Broccoli,
    Chicken Salad,
    Ham Salad,
    Tuna Salad,
    Crab Salad,
    Fish Salad,
    Chili and brown rice,
    Chili with mixed Salad
    Bolognese sauce with brown rice,
    Bolognese sauce with Mixed Salad
3 Egg Omlette = 1 full egg, 2 egg whites, Peppers, Peas, Onion, Tomatoes, L/fat Cheese, Ham or something like that,
Stir fry with loads of veg and usually chicken or beef.
Beans on brown bread toast, with 2 poached eggs on top.
Homemade Veg Soup, Big Style, loads of fresh veg in big chunks, just about everything goes in with a very small amount of potatoes.
    With 3-4 glasses of water.

Evening snack, 1 x large orange and 2 glasses water.

I try and make everything from scratch with fresh ingredients and not packet stuff.

Thats roughly it but I'm sure i forgot something.

Wow!! That's a lot better than what I am doing. As I ain't a big fan if veg its hard to get my five a day in. I usually try to get it in with curries, fajitas, stew, soup etc. would love to be able to tuck into a salad but I can't get my head around it!!

    Anyways fair play to you!!

I would never of had a salads before, i would of rather stuck my head in a bucket of Sh**,
but i have really tried to make something of them to keep them interesting and now i really like them,

the weight is falling of me now and it is very motivating to do more exercise,
I'm getting a rowing machine in the week ahead so i'll be doing more still.

I think the main thing is that your head has to be in the right place for it,
It's just the right time for me, i know it somehow.

also no alcohol at all and i never smoked so thats good.

I need to lose about 4 more stone though.

You know what I think I could manage some lettuce, onion, peppers if I put my mind to it. Would need some chicken for something to chew!! One thing that always put me of salads was the various dressings as I can't stand them. Or mayo !!

From reading your last post I shall endeavour to try a bit if salad in the next week. Oh and going back to the bread thing. I got the superquin whole wheat this eve!! It's baked indoor and it's delish. Only 80cls per slice!!

i think most bread is baked indoors :)

Just in regards the salad dressings, try making yer own, they are pretty simple really. I normally go for a 3:1 ratio of oil to acid, ie vinegar, lemon juice etc

Favourite would be plain balsamic ie 3:1 Olive oil to Balsamic vinegar 9 tesco finest do a lovely one

Or 3:1 Oil to White Wine Vinegar, teaspoon wholegrain mustard, small bit of garlic and black pepper.

Play with the ratios to yer own liking, I dont really measure much, just kinda eyeball it.
