prevent phone from going on paid internet?

    I find at the moment my credit is going like crazy!!
    i don't usually make phone calls and just use my free texts!
    but i do however use the Internet but i always thought i being going on my wireless network in my own home! but I'm a bit weary if my phone might be using Internet in background which i have to pay for when im away from home? how do i know im not getting charged? is there a way to block it from going on pay for Internet just for peace of mind! i haven't a clue where all my credit could be going :eek:
    my phone is a vodafone android

    You can get them to block it at the sim which also disables sms though.

    Alternatively your phone should have disable all data. On my phone its in set u/Mobile Data/Data Enabled. Though I found this isn't always reliable as other things turn it off/on.

    I think swapping a sim enables it on many phones.
