Healthy Diet Questions

    Hi,

I've decided that I want to get healthier and fitter as at the moment I'm eating a lot of junk and just generally eating far too much. I'm not technically overweight but I'm not healthy and I know that if I continue the way I'm going I will be overweight very very soon.

I'd like to lose a stone, I'm 5ft 2 and weigh 130lbs. I'd like to get down to somewhere around 115lbs.

But my problem is that I have no idea when to eat.
I've read all the stickies so I know what to eat but because I've basically just kept snacking all day for the past few years I've forgotten how to tell if I'm actually hungry and when to eat. Is it better to snack or not to snack? Even if they are healthy snacks I would like to get out of the habit of snacking..

This is what I ate yesterday after deciding to change my eating habits:

8.30 am Breakfast: x2 weetabix, small amount of skimmed milk & handful of raspberries and blueberries

1 pm Lunch: Salad with - olive oil, vinegar and mustard dressing, 2 boiled eggs, tomato, red onion

4.30 pm Snack: Rhubard Activia Yoghurt

7 pm Dinner: Chicken breast, small amount of potatoes, brocolli and carrots and drizzling of gravy.

    Total Calories : 1400

Would people be able to give me advice on how to make it better?

    Thanks :)

Well I'd change the weetabix to porridge for a start. I find porridge way more filling and it would be better than weetabix anyway.

I know ideally you shouldn't be having potatoes.but if you increased the Amount of chicken/veg you had you might not even fell hungry enough to want the potatoes. :)

Nuts/ some fruits might be good alternative snacks? As for what to eat, eggs, good meat, lots or veg and some fruit are staples for me.

I think that what you are eating sounds good though! The transition from a really bad to a really good diet can take a little while.

    Thanks for the helpful replies.

I know ideally I shouldn't be eating potatoes but I live at home and my parents do the majority of the cooking and although it isn't unhealthy it is quite carb heavy. But I do take very small portions of the pasta/ potatoes/ rice, etc.

I run about 4 times a week, in total about 20-30km.

I know the advice will probably be to lift weights but I just find it so tedious and boring that I can't stick at it for more than 2 days..
