Are you prejudiced against certain (types of) usernames?

On Boards but also on the internet in general.

I have to confess that misspelled usernames drive me up the wall. It's one thing to make a spelling mistake writing a post, but surely you'd be more careful with your username?

Sometimes I also presume that a username with the person's real name and some numbers after it are a bit unimaginative.

Perhaps the worst, is when someone announces their agenda with their username (doesn't seem to happen too much on Boards).
It's not so bad when it's something like "Footylover36," but when there's an obvious ideological stance, especially if they know it's one that'll get a reaction ("Concernedchristianmom4775," "proud2bwhite") and they then proceed to post, constantly, in the way their username would suggest...well, it just seems like overkill.

I also hate people who have something like "The King of something" as their username. Get over yourself!

That being said, people's posts are more important to me, and someone with the most boring username can very quickly reveal themselves as smart, funny folk, just as not everyone with a clever, distinctive or witty username lives up to it.

Also, any names like "Raven" or "Black Hearted One". I just imagine the douche typing that out, nodding to themselves and saying "Yeah. Yeah, that's exactly it. I am very, very cool."

Also I made it while I was drunk.

Na, I assumed it was intentional, and if you were drunk and genuinely trying to spell it correctly, that would be fine too.

No I mean there should be a 'h' in the Cheese part.

I hate usernames that I can't understand how to pronounce like someone with a concentration of consonants located adjacently in their username.

I'm sure I've thanked some of your posts, so I overcame my initial prejudice against you.
    You should be proud!

I'd never noticed that. It would actually look weird with the "h:" I guess that's why.
And "Jeese" sounds enough like "cheese" anyway.

I find that if the username suggests femaleness, then I am more inclined to agree with their post, working under the assumption that it increases the likelihood of me eventually getting into their pants.

    Some day...

I blame camel case and Java, in that order. If I'm mentioned by username here or on gaming services, I'm usually referred to as Earthy anyways.

Sink the banana was another one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,301 ✭✭✭Flesh Gorden

    I misspelt mine on purpose

I used the same name on another forum with the correct spelling of Gordon, but people started calling me Gordon
and when I bought something from another member, the parcel was address to Gordon, so I learned my lesson

Plus, it probably annoys the odd grammar nazi.

At least names written in camel case (CamelCase?) look better, for me at least, than all lower-case letters, or just a capital at the beginning. It's too much work to try to figure out where the first word ends and the second begins, and a capital in the middle gives the username a little distinctiveness.

Your username is fine, much better than Earthlypangaea.

Clearly Republican / Socialist / Left Wing names. Hate them all and most people who hold those views.

Add to that gamertags that consist of a bunch of seemingly random Greek letters strung together.

Anything with kisses, and/or the letter 'x'.

Or anything too coy and girly, I automatically assume the poster is a halfwit.

Usernames I can handle but signing a post as though it's the focking Proclamation of Independence is another matter entirely. As if I don't already know where this wonderful contribution has come from by virtue of the username RIGHT BESIDE IT !
