Well on the Kilkenny side it was always a group of lads mostly from Slieverue, they called themselves The K team. Presume it's the same crowd this time around...mad stories of paint shops in KK sponsoring them paint etc...there's a thread somewhere about it I think. Have to say I admire their dedication too! Sure it's only a bit of neighbourly banter!

It's back to blue and white now.

isnt it great how something so silly can catch on yeah definitely gotta love their dedication, long may it continue its always worth a glance up each time you pass just to see what colours are on it...i bet there is some layers of paint on the rock now:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭longshanks

The daffodils are coming up, there's a grand long stretch of an evening, dolphins swimming off the Hook and the paint wars on the rock... Whats not to love about Spring in Waterford?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 389 ✭✭dark_shadow

I don't know how you get to the rock but from looking at it looks like you have to repel down with a rope or something??? Surely to jaysus it's one of the most stupidest things ever that somebody is taking their life in their just to paint a fcuking rock??? It's all fun and games till someone falls to their bloody death no??

Like you would say something if they where trying to get a valid point across eg. no to the household charge or something like that. But to go up there day after day just to paint the rock a fcuking colour is beyond me:rolleyes:

It's just a bit of banter really! I'd like our very own Hollywood sign towering over the city... except for when its painted that manky black and amber :p

they should paint a union jack instead,
we be better off under british rule rather then those dopes who fcuked up the country.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Be nice if they kept it with the tri-colour with the euros coming up and all.

I thought it was for that festival thing? Anyway, I would laugh if someone painted a Union Jack up there. Anything to piss off the republicans

Rock has changed colour today, back to blue and white, must admit though, I thought the tricolour looked lovely up there and would have preferred had they of left it as it was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 138 ✭✭leduke

yeah i have to agree ... i'm a true blue but i think the tricolour looked great and should have been left alone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭fricatus

Yet another thing that "Creedon's Cities" could have covered if they had considered Waterford worthy of a programme!

Anyway, they can paint the Tricolour back on it at the next 1848 festival - this is Munster Final season, so Blue and White it is!

    Hon de Déise!!! :D

Ok, then in two weeks can we have the Union Jack? You know, for the Olympics.. After all, they did let us carry the torch for a bit.

Hehe, good luck with that. Maybe someone might paint the Olympic rings up there? But in blue and white or black and amber though! :D

There is nothing on the planet I care less about then that rock. It started out as a bit of banter but it got seriously nasty there for a while.

What, did one crew of painters attempt to throw the other to their deaths?

    Finnbar01 wrote: »

Maybe not seriously but there was a fair bit of graffiti in the area (I'm not suggestimg for a second it was anyone involved with the rock BTW ) and Some people went almost feral over that whole K team craic. I don't mean the rock it self caused any hassle like I said it's s brilliant bit of banter.

I think some people take the whole Waterford/Kilkenny thing to such extremes that it can take away from the good natured rivalry that the vast majority have.

Maybe paint it maroon and white - that'll really piss the cats off.

Personally, I'd be happy to see the rock removed so I don't have to be constantly reminded of how close I live to rednecks of one persuasion or another.

Back to black and amber today, with the wording "on the ball".
