    Hi All,

Just looking for a bit of advice for my OH, I am currently on a diet and doing fine, weight is coming off and happy out!
The thing is though, my OH wants to gain weight, but in a healthy way! He is not underweight (even though he thinks he is), he is 6 foot 1 inch and prob between 12 to 12.5 stone, he wants to bulk up a bit but he has an unbelievably high metabolism!

Can anyone give me some tips or advice on the types of food he should be eating?

    Any help would be great.

    Thanking you....

muscle and size gainer from health store is good !
he could take one shake with each meal!
full of vitamins and minerals and is a healthy and easy way to gain weight!
he doesnt have to be doing exercise to gain weight from the shakes by the way!
    hope this helps :P
also eating loads of peanut butter is very good he could add that into shakes as well :)

A lot of those gainer shakes are full of fillers and sugar to bump up the carbs to protein ratio

    Very easily done through food

    Calorie dense food items:

    nut butters
    nuts
    dried fruit
    oils - cocnut oil/avacado/olive etc
milk (litre has over 600 cals)

Can make your own gainer shake very easily with food listed above.

Whey, fine oats, milk, nut butters and some evoo for extra cals. Complete control over macros and cals in it

your BMI would be 19.2 at 6ft3 and 11 stone which is perfectly healthy, some people just like to be bulker then others... but your weight is perfectly fine for your height so no need to worry! lol

    Below 18.5 Underweight
    18.5 - 24.9 Normal
    25 - 29.9 Overweight
    30.0 & Above Obese

Thanks for all the info guys, I will pass this on...I like the idea of making the shakes (for him!!! I certainly dont need bulking up :D), he would too as he is not into the powder stuff.

Honestly, I would say ye both should be eating the same good quality fresh meat, fruit and veg. He should be eating his daily rec calorie plus a bit (500 cals) and you should be eating yours minus a bit (500 cals for a weekly 1 pound loss )

Totally agree, which is what I am doing (7lbs down in 4 weeks, so going steady ).
To be honest I think his weight is fine, but he just wants to bulk up a bit, he is at a healthy weight for his height etc...but he just needs to eat that bit extra, he would be a believer in 3 meals a day, so perhaps if he has some high calorie healthy snacks in between them it might help.

He won't see much in the way of changes unless he is doing some weights or body weight exercises

He does weights and goes to the gym and runs mosts days, I think the problem is he is burning off too many calories and not replacing them, so he is not seeing the results he wants!

I would have considered this underweight for his height. I would reckon that at a minimum 12 stone for someome at this height would be okay.

Cut back on the running so and tell him to get stronger. If he can't do chin ups, deadlifts and squas he should start soon
