Hi I'm a 6ft approx 19 stone male, so very overweight. I've been going to the gym for a while now and as part of my exercises I do squats with weights, rather unfortunately though two different tracksuit bottoms have ripped on me In the last few weeks while doing squats. Does anyone know any good quality brands or might shorts be better?

Hi James, I wear basketball/netted style shorts and I have never had a problem with them. I would say try shorts and see how you get on (just avoid the 70s GAA ones!)

    Stick with it.

hey first off fair play to ya for getting yourself back in shape

the basketball shorts are a good idea
mma shorts have slits in the sides of them which allow a decent bit more movement although there expensive you might wanna wear bicycle shorts underneat them aswell dont wanna leave anythin hanging out
any type of baggy shorts should do the job for you do

I wear 'fatman' pants (hoodie material) and they're great for getting a good sweat on!

There are 'bodybuilding' pants out there too which are gigantic so they are good also. I have a few pairs and there very comfortable and very hardwearing also!

Adidas shorts + compression shorts. Gives flexiblity and ensures nobody can see up your shorts when stretching / squatting.

The shorts I use are the ones that are kinda shiny black (no idea for the material name, but it's like nylon / polyester or something). You can get under armour compression shorts in Elvery's for ~25 quid. Same with the shorts.

+1 for the fatman pants, i normally have a base layer under mine as i do warmdowns on the x-trainer but for squatting the hoodie material trackies are the biz!!
Only prob is you have to drop you bags in the gym so everyone can see ya bursting quads;)
