The first time I saw " se7en" with Kevin spacey as the dead pan, serial killer. I just kept thinking, why O why isn't John Malkovich playing this part as it was made for him..

I'd have liked to see Anyone replace Nicolas Cage in Anything.

I can totally imagine Nicolas Cage being in a movie called Anything and being terrible in it! :P

I think Nathan Fillion was born to play the role of "Tex Richman" in the muppets Movie. Though I do love Chris Cooper in it. :)

Bryan Cranston as The Dark Knight.

I think Nathan Fillion was born to play Nathan Drake for any Uncharted movie.

I'd like to see Michael Fassbender as Bond but I've heard rumours that Craig will probably have 5 more so Michael could well have missed any chance.

Well that's Se7en ruined for those who haven't seen it.

Serves them right for living under a rock! I joke I joke...go watch it people!

I would loved to have seen Johnny Depp play a villain in one of the Christopher Nolan Batmans, pref the riddler.

Oh don't know about that one. now I like Bryan Cranston but as Batman doubt it would work, he's to old and doubt he'd be able to do the Bruce Wayne persona.

I meant as old Batman, that'd be awesome...

Then again i've been watching a lot of Breaking Bad recently, so I may be biased.

Always thought Fillion would be great as Green Lantern also

I thought Ben Foster or Ryan Gosling would have been a much better choice as Mutt (Shia LaBoeuf's character) in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Yeah, maybe a Burton version but c'mon not a Nolan version, last thing I want to see is another camp Bat flick.

Clint Eastwood as Judge Dredd instead of meathead Stallone

I would have liked to have seen ewan mcgregor play the part of Richard in The Beach. As fine an actor as leo dicaprio is i always thought mcgregor would have been a much better choice for the role. I think Danny Boyle wanted him to play the part of Richard but the studio wanted a bigger name to help get the film more attention. Shame really.

Depp would hardly turn the whole movie camp, prob one of the only people I could think of that could play the sinister psychotic role as believably as Ledger.

I think Will Smith would have been great as Neo in the Matrix and I would love to see what Jack Nickelson would have done with Billy Bob's part in Bad Santa.

I really liked both guys who got the parts, I'd just have loved to see the others as well.

I remember reading something on people who were considered for the role and he was one of them. They said he wanted to induce too much humor into the role though.

Yeah I've heard people say that before but I just don't like him playing American characters, Taken and Next of Kin made me cringe with him. :o

I remember seeing Brendan Gleeson play Michael Collins in a small production called The Treaty in the early nineties. It was little more than an extended cameo. But he was pitch perfect.

Would love to have seen him play Collins in the Neil Jordan movie (though he did have a small part in it).

    But that wouldn't have been.....commercial.

I also recall that Brad Pitt was offered the Jack Swigert/Kevin Bacon role in Apollo 13 but turned it down. Would have been interesting to see that.

Kate Winslet instead of Naomi Watts in King Kong.

Scarlett Johansson instead of Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada.

The young Mickey Rourke instead of Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

Ah come on! Se7en was released 17 years ago. It's not like it's some obscure cult movie.

Oh and Darth Vader is Luke Skywalkers father

Nevertheless, I haven't seen it and it iswas near the top of my 'to watch' list. There's plenty of other films I haven't yet watched eg. The Departed - just haven't got around to them. There's no good reason why they should be spoiled. Also there's plenty of younger people who wouldn't have seen it.

    Besides, charter and all that.

I would suggest you still watch Se7en, knowing who John Doe is wont really spoil it imo

Iain McKellen as Saruman and Christopher Lee as Gandalf.
Samuman is the one who is meant to look trustworthy and friendly. It's a big part of his character. Christopher Lee would have kicked so much ass fighting a Balrog.

Spacey being the serial killer isn't a spoiler. However, what al28283 posted is, so I've added spoiler tags to that post.

Nicholas Cage would have been hilarious in Shame in Fassbenders role, I mean this as a joke

I would have liked to have seen Ed Norton reprise The Hulk role but alas.

thought neeson was perfect for the role in taken

owen wilson was miscast in the film behind enemy lines , someone like mark wahlberg would have been a better choice , wilson is not a tough guy

Kate Winslet instead of Naomi Watts in King Kong.

Scarlett Johansson instead of Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada.

Seth Rogen instead of Owen Wilson in You, Me and Dupree.

The young Mickey Rourke instead of Tom Cruise in Cocktail.

dont agree with any of those changes

naomi watts was very good in king kong , kate winslet is too good an actress for that kind of role , too big of a name doesnt work in special effects movies

scarlet johansson is not wholesome enough in the way ann hathaway is and her bullying by cruella de vil wouldnt have been as convincing

seth rogen instead of owen wilson , why not just have a bear horsing around with a troublesome dog

as for mickey rourke instead of tom cruise in cocktail , that movie had a paper thin script , mickey rourke is not and never was eye candy

I read on Reddit a few days ago that it was one of Lee's lifelong dreams to play to play Gandalf, but the studio thought he was too old to do the role.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/pbvkb

    Edit: From wiki
In the commentary, he states he had a decades-long dream to play Gandalf but that he was now too old and his physical limitations prevented his being considered. The role of Saruman, by contrast, required no horseback riding and much less fighting

From reading about Lee on IMDB and wiki, he sounds like a hell of an interesting guy

I thought Constantine would have be top notch if they had cast someone apart from Keanu in the main role. I liked it anyway but he didn't really sell the bad ass/don't give a **** attitude for me. He had some great lines in it but they would have been better if someone like Joseph Gordon -Levitt or Tom Hardy had delivered them.

Mickey was a good-looking dude before all the boxing and plastic surgery.

Completely agree, Guy Pearce would've been good.

Personally I still don't understand the casting of Karl Urban in the new Judge Dredd movie, good actor and all but doesn't have the screen presence for Dredd. Aaron Eckhart should've gotten the role automatically by virtue of his epic jaw.

I like Urban, particularly for his turn as Bones in Star Trek, but you're absolutely right about Eckhart, he would have been my first choice too.

Oh and I haven't seen Star Wars.

..but have you seen the Simpsons episode where Homer ruins the Empire Strikes Back for those queuing up to see it?

I think the poster who made reference to Se7en did so on the assumption that those reading a Film forum had seen a revered and very popular movie from the mid 90's.

As indeed they would regarding say The Usual Suspects, The Sixth Sense or any older movies which are known for their 'twists'.

If it was a movie released last year then there might be valid grounds for complaint.

If you take that back now that'll be the end of it I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.........
