Well hello again to all. Firstly congratulations to those that have been successful. Just to bring you all up to date as I've not been around due to personal circumstances. I was around 290 on merit list so am not holding out any hope whatsoever. A fortnight ago I received call to request copies of GCSE certs (I had provided letter from my school in England). I indicated that this would cost me a considerable sum and hardly seemed worth it at my lowly ranking. They were unable to confirm number of posts but advised that should I be called forward there must not be any outstanding paperwork. Really not sure what on Earth to think. Anyone want to bring me up to speed regarding these "bogoff letters"? Thanks

Hmmm see that is odd because I have never shown my copy or original of my maths qualification as at the time of the assessment centre stage I was still waiting on a duplicate being sent to me, they told me they would require it at a later date.
So when I phoned a few weeks ago asking for info on my medical they told me that they hadn't even got around to looking at the qualifications for the applicants as yet and that would be done only once the medical was done and passed and if any certificates were needed they would ask for them then............I am ranked 180-190 on the list.

Can't see it being as stringent as the navy so I reckon you will be fine - do you wear glasses or lenses? Cause think it said as long is your vision is ok when corrected then you are fine!

I wear glasses for reading/tv etc so mine aint perfect either lol
Does anybody know the policy on tattoos? I have one on my wrist and worried that they are gonna not like it!

It never said anything about tattoos so it will be ok, I have one on my back and am looking to get one on top of my arm running down to my elbow.

Unless its a political/religious one or one anybody could take offence to you should be ok, after all one of the officers in the observation video at the AC had tattoos on his forearms (although i'm reliably informed that the officer has had them covered up/altered since the making of the video!).

Aye i've a few on my back but its just the visable one i'm worried about - not sure if the uniform is a short sleeved shirt? So was just a bit concerned! Although like you say it never mentioned it as being an issue whereas in RAF it says no tattoos on wrists allowed, should be ok :)

I have two sleeves so do not think there should be an issue given that my problems with the medical was that they could not confirm my BCG scar due to them - so they are well aware of them - I would expect to ware long sleeves but there is nothing religious or political about them so happy with short if allowed - I have a new job/career and that is the main thing - good luck all

I heard through the grapevine in previous psni recruitment campaigns part of your vetting was to descride any and all tattoos (including ones covered by uniform as it may cause offence in the locker room) and provide photos of visible ones. As there has been no mention and there is there is serving officers with visible tattoos it must not be a big issue in the NIPS

Will not swear to it but I think I had to provide a description of my art in the application form for the NIPS - Tis true for the last PSNI intake

Now that you mention it i think it was part of the application, i just put down that they are on my upper arms and covered by a short sleeved shirt.

I'm 180-190 and was told mine would be very soon as they were up to at least 160 (that was on Tuesday) and then swl33t got his the next day so sounds like they are around the 165-175 mark - hopefully you and I will be next on the list :)

I'm nervous that the whole thing is gonna get screwed up somehow and I miss my medical.

Totally irrational of me. Uh, probably.
