I had my child in 1997 when I was a teenager and even then faced huge pressure to have her adopted and that was 30 years later!
My then girlfriend got pregnant with her previous a couple of weeks before we met. I stood by her as did her family who love the child to bits. No pressure there so is your family very conservative/toeing the Church line?

    From whom?

Family...I was lucky enough to have my boyfriend to support me but without him who knows what might have happened. As it is my mother never forgave me for the shame I brought on her and we haven't spoken since.

So imagine how much harder it was for these women with no one to turn to, no financial support to go it alone, no agencies to help them know their rights or entitlements. They made the best choice they could and have paid for it in spades.

The fact that grandparents were (and still are) prepared to sacrifice their own children and grandchildren is mindboggling to me and all to keep up appearances
