Hi folks, I am looking to replace my 8yr old Mazda 6, and am looking a these 2 cars...

    1. 2010 Mazda 6 2.2 Tdi, 41000 miles for 19950 euros

    2. 2008 Audi A4 Sportline 2.0L D Estate (automatic, old body type) for the same money.

A couple of questions..which of these represents better value, and what woulfd be the running costs , all things being equal/ both cars have a full..... service history and 1 prev owner....
We 'd be keeping the car for 5 years and looking to sell on (obviously)

I would check carzone etc and see what the average asking price is for both cars.

Check parkers.co.uk for fuel economy ratings for both.

I was thinking of buying a 8 year old or so mazda 6...

Instead of trading it in, if its in good nick sell it,,, then youll get a better cash price on the new car. :D

The Mazda is a much better handling car. More refined engine too. The early 2 litre VAG engines are prone to injector failure. Also Audi auto-boxes need regular oil changes or the screw up, along with suspension failure with high miles.
I'd go with the Mazda without a second thought.

If its the facelift model Mazda I would certainly go for it. The injector problem has been sorted now but yes the gearbox will need to have its oil changed every 60k..

It was sorted in 2008 with the newer CR engine, but he mentioned it was old shape A4, 2008 year, so I'm thinking it might be the PD engine.
Either way, the facelift Mazda 6 is an excellent car, and best handling in it's class.

Yes that car would have a PD engine allrite but the injectors are being replaced under recall.

€20k is crazy money for a 2008 old shape A4.
