What are your hobbies? Mine are reading, video games and movies. I also love to cook and bake. I like to draw too, but often takes more concentration than I can muster!

Been trying lots of new things lately too cause I just moved to Canada, curling and skiing and snowshoeing. Maybe see if there is anything going on locally, chance to meet new people?

I love watching curling in the winter olympics. That frantic sweeping is mesmerising. :)

I like music, going to the gym, meeting up with friends...
Although there's only so many times you can go the gym during the day and meet up with friends...

I'd kind of like a project that I could do...

I think you just trumped everything with cello.

I like Bluewolf's suggestions. You're never too old to start something new, even if it is a little scary. Instrument lessons or a new sport might suit you. A language is pretty easy to do. Check if there are classes near you and if not get one of those home learning kits, they are usually pretty good to begin.

My sister was 17 last year and took up ballet, she loves it even if most of the girls in her beginners class are about 6!

What I do lots is movie marathons. I pick a genre/director/actor and watch as many films as I can of those. Horror, vampire, zombie, Tim Burton, Steven King. Doing Denzel Washington now!

I spend to much time pissing about online so need to have set things to keep me busy, works sometimes >_<

I bake when I'm bored. The only problem with that is, one ends up eating everything! A great way to spend time though - picking a recipe, stroll to the shops, bake, decorate, serve!

these days you can watch one Tim Burton movie and assume you've seen them all, he keeps making the same film, oh look Johnny Depp is in this one...

And Helena Bonham Carter in gothic makeup, for a change.

Have a kid. You'll never have time to be bored for the next 25 years.

Read, watch Netflix, bake, make cards, make artist trading cards, make jewellery, write if I can find the mental energy, spend time reading after hours, Play with the dogs, make a cup of tea, talk to the bird etc (actual bird- cockatiel)

I must be doing it wrong, there's lots of opportunity for boredom in our house. :pac:

Learning something new is always a good way to combat boredom. It doesn't have to cost very much. For example, I learnt to knit by Youtube.

Is there anything that you ever thought: I'd love to be able to...?

I love coming up with projects. I find that the most satisfying are ones that produce a tangible result.

Ever consider growing your own veg? Great time of the year to start. Loads of cheap seeds in Lidl.

I got into preserving at Christmas - made some lovely relishes. Takes a few hours to get everything done and a few weeks to let it mellow.

Thinking about brewing my own beer sometime this year.

Go on to the Region forum and see what is going on in your locality. You'd be surprised what cool shops/things to see you have nearby.

I spend alot of my idle time playing guitar and poking around in the garden.

I've recently noticed that my favourite hobbies are those that I can share. I don't make cards or jewellery unless ice someone to give them to. With baking there is always someone to eat it. I only eat a little of what I make (apart from the dark choc frosted cuppins nom nom)

Another thing that's great - any type of clear out or clean up when bored. Wardrobe, kitchen press etc.

I'm don't think I'm ever really bored anymore. I always have a million different projects on the go so my problem is time. At the moment, I have things to do in the house, taking up curtains, making napkins, painting, etc.

There is always a lot cooking/baking to do. I'm always experimenting with recipes. Always something to do in the garden.

Getting into crafting of any kind will always keep your hands busy. I have a stack of books in the "to read" section.

I'm really into picking up new skills so I almost always have one on the go.

I'd really like to add improving my Irish and learning Spanish.

I have an actually list of things I want to learn, look up or improve. If you sit down and write out things you want to do, it helps for those times when you are bored and looking for something to do.

Also, I find it helps to just go out for a walk to figure out what you want to do that day.

Stuff you can do with/for others is great! I like to make origami and give them to friends randomly. I also got mad into nail art last year, painting designs on my nails and my sister was always getting me to do hers. Learning new things is so easy these days with YouTube and the internet,.

Me and my sister used to love SingStar and Wii Just Dance. We also love board games! Lately I played drunk board games with my friends for different things to do on nights in, we love it!

    cello

Ah, I played cello for years. The Leaving Cert kinda ruined my love for it though. :(

OP, wish I had free time to do stuff! I usually spend any free time online, which is awful. Most of my time is spent working/doing college work.

But! Exercise is always good. Running, swimming, walking the dog, climbing mountains..

Reading, drawing, baking. Learning a language!

I already spend too much time on the internet!

I go to the gym a good bit..

Would defo love a project of some sort to start/ get involved in...

I really wanted to do cookery courses but they weren't on in locality!

I was bored to death once and there was biting cold outside with snow ,so what i did was pulled all the clothes out of my wardrobe and cleared the unwanted out and not so very used donated and thus my wardrobe was sorted out of my boredom. if u dont really want to spend time on internet u can do some such activities that u may be pushing aside for a long time, like sorting wardrobe, bank statements ,bills, kitchen stuff that u dont use etc etc..

Writing. I can get lost for hours writing. Its amazing what can happen when you let your imagination out. I am always trying to find the time to write more. Unfortunately for me, I discovered boards.ie and now find its distracting me from just about everything else LOL Love it here !

+1 for writing. It's not something I've tried yet, but the next time I'm at a loose end for a project I want to give writing a go :)

Are you into art at all? 'The peoples art' display is on for a few weekends every summer at Stephens Green and it's open to everyone, so that could be a good project if you want something to work towards.

I also do swing dancing, which is fun and a good way to meet people.

All of my hobbies have pretty much been said but my newest hobby is learning to play bass guitar :D I'm gonna be a star! *goo-goo eyes* :P

Then the usual baking, reading, patching up my old clothes or changing them up, sewing is one of the best things to know how to do ever! Planning new tattoos, calling my mammy, or annoying my bf :D

I've had 100s of hobbies over the years but for various reason, I've had to give them up and now it's mainly down to lack of funds. I read a lot and I like to write a bit and I started running after Christmas as it's free and I can already run about 40 minutes (slowly) without stopping. I love it. I play a little bit of guitar but I lost patience for it last year but need to get back into it and I'm learning Spanish which is easy enough as I live here and am getting more serious about it recently. Starting a serious language exchange with a girl next weekend.

I used to have a book club here and it was easy to organise but the members were fairly flakey and not enough people would come in the end to make it enjoyable and it was getting to be a pain trying to round everyone up.

I like hiking and will do more of that once the weather gets better.

I spend too much time on here though, if I'm honest. Not sure if it's the best use of time but I enjoy it. I've learned to not beat myself up for sitting on me backside doing nothing. I'm on the go from 6am to 10pm at night every weekday, so I deserve it.

There's more I'd like to do if I had the money but plenty of free stuff to do too.

    Wow... that's a long day!

Eve, do you mind me asking what do you do/ general area of type of work it is!?

When bored, I usually get the cooking/baking book out and try something new. I would also pick up the phone, ring a friend/family and share my boredom...which usually goes away pretty quickly.
There are so many things you can do really!
