There is a new adventure race just launched up my neck of the woods for any of you guys who are into this type of thing. It looks like it will be a good one!
    Check it out here

    Anyone interested?

Looks pretty good. I'd definately be interested in something like this.

The only problem I'd have is with the Kayaking training. I'm pretty close to the water so, if I'd a kayak, I'd get plenty done. The problem is, noone I know has one and, although I've been researching buying one, I'm not sure that kayaking alone is such a good idea for a beginner.

I wouldnt worry too much about the kayak. 2000m isnt too bad, although if there was a bad current it could turn into a nightmare. You could hire out a kayak at Marble hill beach and give it a go paddling across the beach to see if you could get the hang of it. I am more worried about the 10 mile run cross country and across Dunfanaghy beach.

I've said to a couple of people that I'll do it, but not going to do in any way competitively. My goal is to get from point A to point B and try to enjoy it. Rather than take it into the red the whole way around.

Dont worry about the kayak stage , even if you dont have any experience. I presume they are the sit on for 2 people , if you are not that experienced sit in the front and let the person at the back do the steering

Seeing as this is back on the first page.. does anyone have a training plan I could follow for this?
