Harrington and McManus are leading the team competition at -23 after 11 holes of round 2. Padraig is-7 for the tournament.which makes JP -16 for 29 holes.

Anybody know where Jp's home club is or if the handicap secretary is watching?

Newflash - McManus doing brilliantly at another pro-am.

Amazingly, he's playing miles below his handicap again when "it matters". He really comes up trumps in these pro-am, or team event, things. I heard it suggested that it's uncanny the regularity with which his handicap seems to have no relation to his actual ability when his handicap cant be affected by the outcome. But what would I know?

    Not true.

The format is 4 ball better ball. On the assumption that Paddy has made 10 birdies and J P made par on the holes that Paddy made bogey he has then made 13 nett birdies. This does not equate to him being -13 for the 29 holes, for all we know he could have made bogey or worse on the others.

It used to be limerick golf club but prob somewhere in switzerland now, he's a complete bandit!

Harrington bogies par 5 14th and then birdie's the 15. That would have been a bogie-bogie run last year.

And known the length and breadth of the country for it, or so I have heard. In our place people get cut on observation for placing in group competitions.

The pair finished the second round at -25, ph at -8, so a contribution of -17 by the amateur.

In comparison, they lead by 7 shots and Charlie wi who leads on-12 has a combined score with his amateur of -15.

    Wonder what their competition thinks?

Incorrect, you don't seem to grasp how a fouball better ball works.

Paddy has made 12 birdies, so assuming J P made par on the holes that Paddy made bogey he may have made a contribution of -13.

Just watching coverage on Sky. They're currently only showing play from Pebble. Padraig Harrington is playing in Spyglass. Does anyone know if there will be any coverage from there tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭Atlantic1

Harrington just gone to 11 under. Outright 2nd now.

doubt it. TW will dominate the coverage

They're off air for a half hour now and the main US channel is then taking coverage from 8pm so hopefully we'll have some variety, though Tiger will dominate the coverage, as you said. :(

See text sent to a friend at 9.40 tonight:

Padraig must be due an implosion soon. 4 birdies no bogies after 13. Can't keep that up surely!

Harrington scores bogie, par, bogie, double bogie to give back the 4 shots gained.

    His reply:

See you put the mockers on him

He's becoming Bjorn like these days. So fragile

remember that's the hardest of the 3 courses. terrible to give away all he gained on his first 9. still - looking better, if only we had some tv coverage.

Yeah, you feel like he's always gonna screw up a hole or two near the end to mess up his chances of victory. And he didn't disappoint last night.

I was hoping against hope this time . . . . I took him for a win yesterday at 12/1 :( He wrecks my head at times.

Duke (who?) had some back 9 of 28 there in r1. Different story on Sunday though.

I just hope he keeps it together and has a strong finish as it will do his confidence the world of good.

Harrington to lose in a playoff to Duke
    Shooting a 7 to Dukes 6 on 18th

I'v not seen him yet, he just holed a 13ft putt for par on the 8th according to shot tracker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

Its gonna be a great back 9 with so many players in contention. Phil looks like the probablt winner at this stage but anything can happen at Pebble.

I hate this transmission break when they switch to CBS, ridiculous that they take off the air for half an hour in the middle of the final round.

That's what annoys me about US golf coverage. It's all about the players they think are going to win and not about those who are in the top 10 and are playing well.

    Streelman is doing well.

    Mickelson eagles the 6th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 948 ✭✭✭SSK

And right on cue Phil eagles while the broadcasters are scratching their arse

That's what I thought. I haven't seen much coverage but I've yet to see Harrington. He's now level with Woods but you'd think Woods and Mickelson were the only two players in the field. It does get very annoying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

    10 players within 4 shots.

    So the TV coverage....

    Duke
    Wi
    Mickelson
    Woods

If Padraig gets within two shots they'll say "wow where did he come from"

Now Sky are at it......"it's a great story about Tiger"........what about Padraig?

Streelman with a putt to be one back but yet they show his shots recorded. Woods is 4 back but he gets the coverage (even walking between shots).

I have a feeling they will show padraig but only after jp makes putt on 18 to win team event

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Woods playing crap but still they focus on his every shot. It's ridiculous coverage. Harrington is playing well yet he has not been given any coverage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,304 ✭✭✭Martin567

I noticed recently that Tiger is a fairly warm favourite for the upcoming Masters. Why this should be the case is a mystery.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he won't win it. It's perfectly possible that he will. His game does seem to be in better shape than last year. However, he is a long, long way from the Tiger of 2000-2007. In particular he looks vulnerable on Day 4, just like any other top player. I can't see any justification in thinking him to be the one to beat at Augusta.

Pathetic TV coverage. They show the top three and Woods (Woods is the default player no matter how he is playing). Very few players in the top 20 get any mention at all.
