The producers aren't looking for continuity, they have certain locations they use and they shoot some scenes while driving in cars and if they don't match up it doesn't matter, the story is the theme not the locations of the scenes and whether they match up in real life or not. Its irrelevant if Nidge is driving down the quays towards Guinness' and takes a left and is then on O'Connell St. thats just where the next scene is set to take place, end of.

Ah yeah I know, besides I doubt if anyone who's not from Dublin would notice it tbh

The building on the left with the glass front is gone now and the apartment block used in the series was built a number of years ago.
There's a shot of Tommy on the balcony topless and you'll see the older blocks in the background.(used in RTE trailer)

That's an old AIB building in Donnybrook I remember seeing the shutters open one morning passing by and the Garda shield on the glass at the front thought it was weird since the Garda station I across the road!

Yeah, it can only be a flashback type sequence, or else the stories stemmed from someone on the internet saying they saw Darren at one of the filming locations, (there was one such friend of a friend post around here a while ago) and are completely untrue, would anyone be surprised given it's the Herald and the Sun.
