I'm advised by someone who seems to know something about these things that it doesn't qualify for the "Images of Beauty" thread, so as it's Friday I've put a picture of it up somewhere else on the site. Special prize* for the first one to find it (and post the link here) ;)

What with all this teasing, I looked in "Burlesque and Cabaret". No joy.

Then I figured it must be one heck of a bike to warrant such a search, so I went to "Fashion and Appearance => Beauty". Nada.

I also tried North County Dublin and Soccer.

Can we just see it already?

OK - it's in the Cycling Forum, somewhere ....

(and you can see it, if you look in the right place)

(and Ed, it's a different picture to the one in the Mods forum)

That's my profile picture Lusk Doyle, and it's not me, or my bike!!

To give you a clue - it's edited into one of my own posts (which means there are only 4,702 possible places it could be;))

    I refer you to post 7 above - that's a new frame, not a new bike ... ;)

Next time make it harder by using a different photobucket account for each bike :pac:

I was actually thinking of using a different one as I guessed a search using the image link I normally use would probably get someone there. But I didn't want to make it too difficult for you all...

I also toyed with just putting it in the Fleets thread so no-one could ask any questions (knowing Rob and Astra's views on the aesthetics, I knew some would not consider it an image of beauty)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,232 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

    Hey mister, what's it weigh?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,831 ✭✭✭ROK ON

Have some great and safe times on the new steed.

I do detest Cervelos and the new one is fugly as hell. Saw a pic of Dan Martins new bike the other day and I almost retched.

But as long as you like it that's all that matters. Well wear.

Not weighed it - options taken were

    3T ARX Stem
    3T Ergonova Team handlebars
    Shimano Dura Ace Di2 Groupset
    Mavic Cosmic Carbone SR Wheels
    Continental Gp 4000S Tyres
Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle

the Di2 does seem to weigh it down a bit though (not that I'm complaining)

Alloy clinchers on it?! No Di2?

Well may wear sir, many safe and fast kms on it.

edit: ah just saw the Di2, well you saved that bit!

I wonder if a sz48 S5 would look any less distasteful ... sorry.

Christ I missed the Di2, though I see it now hanging under the handlebars.

Better not crash it then! I guess vets races are fairly civilized.

Wishing you the very best of luck with it.

Any chance you'll make it an unprecedented two weeks in a row and take it out on tomorrow's spin? Let me know and I'll remove my rear mudguard. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,830 ✭✭✭doozerie

Aesthetics be damned, that looks like it'd be great fun to ride. Good luck with it!

Incidentally, I recently fitted a pair of 3T Ergonova bars and one thing that I discovered when I decided to try them out by sprinting in the drops is that my forearms caught on the bars where the flats curve to form the drops. My hands were in the curve of the drops at the time, rather than back towards the end of the drops (the drops widen towards the ends). I haven't found that issue with my Ritchey bars, so might be something to watch out for if you haven't used Ergonova's before.

Just want them to get the Vector out - don't fancy putting a P2M on, and the SRM is a bit pricey:D

... the additional advantage of the Vector is it should double up on the track bike(s) (more antidote to the recession)

Anyway, I understand the economy in the North is booming following my "investments" yesterday...

After last week's mudbath, not a cat in hell's chance of that bike going out on tomorrow's spin - she's definitely going to be my "fair weather" bike

looks great particularly the cables dont go into the cross bar just behind the stem.

    Best of luck with it...

(get it out at about 2.45pm tomorrow to look at because you will need cheering up!)

So after being hung up in the garage for the past two weeks, today the new bike finally saw the light of day providing me with an opportunity to take a decent picture:

    188.jpg?t=1330194885

Not only that, but I got to ride her for the first time...

(Warning - this report may be biased)

... and what a ride she gave me;)

I seem to be getting a bit of a head cold, but still managed a Personal Best on the Ardgillan Hill Climb, beating my previous best from last April by a couple of seconds. I thought (and still do think) the Cayo was a nice ride, but the Cervelo was incredibly smooth, light and very responsive. Gear changing was great, and the aerodynamics were incredible, slicing through the air with so much ease, and accelarating without undue effort. I was feeling comfortable doing 35kph or more on a flattish road into a slight headwind. I liked the shallow handlebars, and may drop them a couple of spacers to try and get a bit more aero on the drops.

To put it mildly, I'm delighted with her:D

Hopefully I'll get a proper chance to put her through her paces tomorrow
