uptime not resetting on reboot

    Has anyone ever come across a case where Windows (7) uptime does not reset after a reboot? Despite rebooting a machine (Win 7 native OPS, no multi-boot or VM) several times, the uptime according to the task manager or NET STATISTICS SERVER is at 28 days, which is causing a major problem with some software which depends on accurate running time statistics .

    I haven't. That's really curious!

    What happens if it's shut down and started from a cold boot? Does the counter reset then?

    The windows 7 clock uptime appears to just subtract last recorded boot time from the current time. (It counts hibernated time and suspend time as uptime.)

    Can you check the registry and see whether the key for the system heartbeat is not set to 0.

    Sometimes when a computer is used as a server, the program is disabled in registry or group policy to get rid of that "Reason for shutdown " prompt.
