Who will be the next England manager?

I've had the discussion with a lot of my fellow Blackburn Rovers fans and we all agree that Steve Kean is the man for the job. I'm putting him under other though because he is not in the betting.

So who do you think it will be? And is it a foolish or a good move to be next after Capello?

'Arry Redknapp as the next permanent manager, probably at the end of the club season. Maybe Stuart Pearce until then

    90% harry.

He could become england manager now and remain with spurs until the end of the season I believe.

£6m a year salary. Thats a lot of tax.

The British seem to have a philosophy that if your country calls , you cannot say no. - Therefore probably HR .

I would like to see an unemployed figure get the job ..........Guus Hiddink

I think so too. A few players will be cracking open a couple of low cal beers tonight. Micah Richards being one.

Interesting to see the dynamics of teams now as players previously frozen out have a place to play for.

Stuart Pearce will take over until after the Euros, if he does well he'll stay on but if he under performs 'Arry will be appointed pronto.

    Harry.
I hope Harry gets it and he does as well as the rest of them have done.
    God such bull shhit.
They think they have a divine right to success.
Blame Johnny Foreigner. Had to turn off the tv tonght.
I cant stick listening to them goin on.

Theyd never give Warnock the job would they?

    Alan Pardew
Roy Hodgson. He's English, he's experienced, he's a top manager with great record of success at club and international level, he handles the press well and he deserves a big job.

At least, that's what they told us two years ago.

    James cordon for england manager.

    Sam Allardyce
Moyes is likely to be strongly linked. Hes British (unless he fails, in which case hes a Scot!) and has been brilliant with Everton. But he's really taken Everton as far as he can, could he be tempted away?

Potential disaster for him career wise but I actually think he'd be success there.

Redknapp is the candidate most suitable for the job. Has worked with many of the England players at various clubs over the last decade. Has a proven track record of success and i would think he is both admired and respected by nearly all the players. I will be amazed if the FA overlook him for the post. They deserve to fail if they are that stupid.

I think it'll be Harry but if I was advising him I'd tell him not to take it. He has something great going on at Spurs. God knows what'll happen with England and how he'll be treated or mistreated by the FA.

I reckon Pearce gets it as the interim manager keeping it warm until Harry triumphantly arrives.

I'm sure Darren Bent will be thrilled to see Harry get it. :pac:

According to sky sports Harry should just be able to walk into the dressing room and use his " English passion" to expel the disgusting foreign smell that Capello has left wafting in the dressing room. The dirty foreign smell that has prevented England from winning the World Cup. The smell of immigrants! The smell of the luftwaffe and the stench of the Belgrano!

"We've had enough of these foreigners!" Barry Fry announces as he pounds the Sky Sports desk in a manner not dissimilar to Churchill. " They've no passion, they only care about money! We need Harry!! A true English man who only cares about football!" ( Rednkapp was unavailable for comment as he was taking part in a Nintendo Wii advert )

The FA will listen to the media and pick Harry as he has earned it with his 1 FA cup win.

Hiddink would be a good choice but he's not English so that probably rules him out this time.

I think it depends. A lot of that comes from friends of Redknapp's in the media. I doubt there'd be much opposition if the likes of Wenger, Mourinho or Guardiola got the job (not that I'm saying they'd want it before someone has a pop!)

I'm pretty sure it'll be Redknapp, but maybe not until after the Euros. Wouldn't surprise me if Hiddink gets it until then as he's expressed an interest, is available and has a lot of experience in International tournaments. Personally, I'd give it to Sven in a caretaker position for the same reasons.

    Alan Pardew
    Has to be Hodgson.

If what the media were saying about him towards the end of his Liverpool stint is true, which they seemed to believe, then they will have one hand on the euro and world cups straight away.

I cant believe they aren't screaming his name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Father Damo

Am I alone in thinking Redknapp wont touch this just yet?

Think about it- why touch it now, when it is in such an atrocious state, when he would have to deal with the question of what to do with John Terry, and would have to deal with the rumours (if true) that a large amount of the squad dont like Terry and his core of mates. He is doing great at Spuirs, he doesnt need the train wreck that is the current England set up.

Why wade into this mess when he can let some no mark take the job, fcuk up the Euros, and then can waltz into the team as the messiah when some of the older/ controversial players are retiring and as some promising new blood is being brought in?

In short, the bookies are wise men, they wouldnt have Arry at 2/1 if he was as dead cert as everyone reckons. They are trying to make a profit after all- if they were so certain all bets would be off tbh. Instead they know everyone and their granny will put 20 quid on this and it wont even eventuate.

Harry to take over England after PL season is over, than Moyes to Spurs and Bruce To Everton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,775 ✭✭✭✭kfallon

David James will be delighted if Pearce gets the job, he'll be back in the squad as a centre forward

Seriously how could you give that man a job after City played Boro in a must win game for European football (I think) and he put James up front. Needless to say there were no trips into Europe for City the following season!

His England U-21 squad last summer were pathetic too despite a wealth of talent!

If Arry says no or wants too much money, they will go for O'Neill.

When O'Neill says no they will go for Hiddink. And he will say yes. Thats where my money is going. Posting for posterity :)
