Brilliant ratings for Wednesday!....but also interesting. It scored a 1.3 adult demo and 3.75 million....that is a huge viewer number.

BUT...last night TVD scored a bigger 1.5 demo with much less viewers = 3.02 million, this means that a higher percentage of those that watched were over 50 years old!
    or under 18;):p

    really enjoying this.

the whole production feels "right" and theres enought intrigue to keep me coming back.

    roll on next weeks.

Last nights ep. was very Meh! imo...worst of the season, the flashbacks were pointless and the Royal Flush Gang were pants imo, i dunno how Thea made the leap that somehow Tommy could have been talking about her....or how she lept to making a pass at him

Yeah she was drunk but i didnt get that side plot at all. Thankfully next week seems like a return to form + The Huntress :D

I'm no expert on girls, but my understanding is she's a teenager and, in tv shows at least, if they have a crush on someone they could take the slightest interest the wrong way. So guessing it really didn't help when he gave her a peck on the cheek
On another note, Thea reminds me of Joanne Kelly(Myka from Warehouse 13)

The Royal Flush Gang weren't great and they were missing Ten. King is in a lot of shows and I always just refer to him as a poor man's Kevin Spacey.

CW have ordered an additional episode of Arrow taking it to 23 Episodes this season.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 9,689 Mod ✭✭✭✭stevenmu

So does that mean that they are going to cancel it, but ordered a proper finale. Or that they only had one season planned and now want a new episode to set up a second one. Or just that they had a hole to fill in their schedule

It routinely happens with shows and is generally a sign of confidence that the show will return.

Watched an episode today and its only the second I've seen thus far. Was episode 6 and really it didn't impress. The island stuff was interesting but the crime of the week was dull, unoriginal and poorly done. Oliver was decent even if he looks and sounds just like Chris O'donnell but the rest of the characters really don't interest me. I don't care if Oliver's sister is in love with a man who loves another, I don't care if a free legal clinic is in trouble. What I care about is watching the Green Arrow kick ass and fir the writers to have a little fun with him.

I wasn't too keen on this week's episode. Introduced Helena but then just was just strange with regard to how things were handled.
    For example
the fight where Helena killed Helo. Not only did it look like she just punched him to break his neck, but also the way Ollie said her name accusingly and she had to defend her actions to him, even though he had just broken someone else's neck a second before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,569 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Yeah wasn't a great episode imo, probably the weakest so far.
The reveal that the head honcho of the bad guys is Merlin's dad was done very poorly imo.

I keep sitting down to start this but always put on something else instead. From the two episodes I saw I didn't hate the show and saw that there was a lot of room to grow but it just seemed a little underwhelming and a lot of the action was very poorly done. I think perhaps that this may be a summer show, one burnt off easily over a month or two when there's little else on and as such I don't mind watching something I consider lesser television.

It's a very good show, worth the effort. Some of the earlier episodes (particularly the pilot) were a bit rushed, but it has grown into a solid, addictive show that I look forward to watching.

Finally caught up with all the episodes now.

    Progressing along nicely.

Thought Diggles would feature a lot more in it by now, but it seems with Helena arriving in, she's took a lot of his screen time.

I'm watching the latest episode (9) and ... well, you ever hear something so stupid in a tv show that it makes your brain hurt?
Apparently that book that impossibly cute yet incredibly nerdy nerd-girl figured out, at the end of the last episode, for step dad guy uses special ink. Subsonic ultraviolet ink. Sub. Sonic. Ink.

To me it's just more of a summer show. While I've liked a lot of what I saw a lot of it has been pretty poor. The island stuff is great and Green Arrow moments fun but all the crap about his family and friends just bores me. A lot of the action scenes such asthe police station break in in episode 6 are just too ludicrous to take even remotely serious.

I do plan on giving Arrow a watch but there's just too many good shows on atm and for now Criminal Minds occupies my easy to watch crap of the week slot.

Enjoying the show for what it is. Oliver Queen was really well cast, I thought Justin Hartley wasnt the worst option for it when I first heard about the show, but the new guy is just a much better actor...

Lasted about 8 episodes of this, and gave up. It's fairly repetitive. Started off brightly but kinda went nowhere fast.

Was reading some quotes earlier from the CW President, and he hopes(but it's not really up to him) that Arrow and upcoming series "Amazon" will be set in the same universe. If I can't get Bruce and Diana, I'll sure as hell take Oliver and Diana.

Have Sky switched it from a Monday night? It was series linked before Christmas and the break but I've missed episodes, judging by what I've seen here. :o

It was back on Monday. My series link didn't pick it up either but I had seen it advertised so caught it. You've only missed that episode and it's on again on Thursday at 8pm on Sky 1 and Saturday on Sky 2 at 10pm

Alex Kingston (ER) cast as Laurel's mom...Dinah:: Former ER series regular Alex Kingston is joining The CW’s breakout superhero drama Arrow in a recurring guest star role. The British actress will play Dinah Lance — Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) mom and Detective Quentin’s (Paul Blackthorne) ex-wife. Later this season Dinah will return to Starling City to make amends with her family that she abandoned years earlier following the tragic death of her daughter aboard Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) yacht.

    The end

Holly Arrowcave! - did anyone see that coming?
Bloomin' éll....puts a whole new spin on the island saga, it's getting a full review point for that alone! ;)

Solid ep. though - much better then lasts weeks crapfest + Ben Browder was pretty darn good + like that they used the ep. to setup the Vertigo stroyline.
Fringe fans should tune in for Seth Gable :) - Toomy's mom murdered?...Batman?, who dd it?....gotta be connected to his dad turning Dark Archer + possible motive for Tommy to go evil and into Merlyn?

How AWESOME is Felicity? :D - i wait every short scene with her, she steals the show + spoilers suggest her arc gets much bigger.
I'm confident the positive fan response will get Emily Bett Rickards a series regular role, She's Arrow Chloe from Smallville + no doubt secret crush/love interest for Oliver.

    This is gonna be interesting:
MANU BENNETT (“SPARTACUS”) GUEST STARS AS SLADE WILSON — After Oliver (Stephen Amell) is shot, he turns to a surprising person for help – Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). Diggle (David Ramsey) is stunned when he sees Felicity walk through the front door of the lair dragging a dying Oliver behind her, and the two team up to save Oliver’s life. As Oliver (Stephen Amell) hovers between life and death, he flashes back to a seminal event on the island – a daring escape attempt with his new friend Slade Wilson (guest star Manu Bennett). Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne and Susanna Thompson also star. John Behring directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim (#114).

Some really good guest stars coming up as well Manu Bennet from Spartcus.
    I'm getting Joker flashbacks here.....:D

Sounds like she'll be getting her 'pull pin out of hair, take off glasses and have wind blowing on her' nerd to hot slut transition soon.

^ yup....even more evident that Felicity has a serious crush in the latest ep. and a major revelation to Oliver @ the end ensures she's part of Team Arrow in the next episode or two.

Not a bad episode this week, but I thought Seth Gable was woefully underused + very cartoonish/comic book in his interpretation of The Count, twas almost like he was mimicking an OTT Joker from the Nolan movie.

Least they finally gave Thea something worthwhile to do working for Laurel, and you can see the beginnings of Tommy starting to hate Oliver always hanging around Laurel.

So Ollie knows his mother is a liar and part of the bigger arc, wonder if she'll get killed off?

Show is still holding my interest each week, and tbf they do a good job of mostly filling in holes or have characters, like Felicity, ask the questions we'd all be asking.

3/5...as Seth Gable was OTT. More good guest stars coming up with Colton Haynes [Teen Wolf] and James Callis [BSG] and David Anders [OUAT]

Last week seeing Ben Browder just made me think being a former leader of SG1 means you're looked after when you retire since both he and O'Neill look heavier now. :)

Seth Gabel this week reminded me of the Mad Hatter from Once Upon a Time. A couple of times I had to look twice to be sure it was a different actor

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Lots of revelations last night, Arrow knows about his mom...the end was great with the vigilante confronting Moira!, Manu Bennett....lol, way too much like his character on Spartacus....they even dropped a few nods in with him saying he like swords.

Even his dialogue and the way he talked was rather Sparty...next week looks like a cracker though!

This episode displayed a problem with casting news being announced without spoiler warnings. I mean I would've preferred finding out it Deathstroke the same time as the rest of the audience, rather than sitting waiting for the reveal.

And it's not like i went looking for the news. It was pretty much posted on every site that covers entertainment "Spartacus star cast as Deathstroke"

The same happened with Smallville when news stories had unspoilered headlines about an actor who played a supposedly dead character coming back to the show.

Really liked the ending, they could have drawn it out that Oliver hadn't a clue about his mother but hopefully this means they can move the story on.

Really good episode tonight!....flashback heavy, Felicity was brilliant! :)
Fuller review incoming.........this was the most flashback heavy episode of the season, i'd say 3/4 were flashback and the rest Diggle and Felicity fixing up Oliver.

Mommy Arrow shoots Oliver, Felicity finds out about Oliver/Arrow and takes him to the bat cave, or um....Arrow cave :o , interesting though that she said no to joining Team Arrow, but yet she upgraded the lairs IT (bizarrely quickly.... , she was in the same bloody clothes, so where did she get all the new hardware.......)...and said she'd help out to find Walter.

But you know she'll join up, either she gets invested in the cause or something happens to her and Oliver saves her. Deathstroke 1 took out Deathstroke 2.

James Callis/Baltar next week, Felicity looks SOOO different with her hair down and no glasses, still beautiful....but, but I must admit I think the sexy IT girl look is WAY hotter......:)

Yuo Fei daughter?...the tattoo, the Bratva?....is she not a prisoner but a Trojan horse?, Oliver has the same tattoo.

Very solid stuff, good production values and fighting....but 3/5 from me.

i think she done more on the software side of things, she said it was a shame the hardware wasnt being used properly,

somehow i think ollie will hook up with You Feis daughter, what becomes of it i dunno, i was thinking if he took out the people on the island by seasons end and then maybe he might team up with You Fei and travel the world taking out bad guys for a few seasons, before returning to the island 4 or 5 years later to be rescued so he can finally go home and honor his fathers last wish

kind of a batmanish i know, but i cant see them filling in his 5 years in the island hunting down all the mercenaries that come, he has to leave the island to get more than one season of flashbacks of what happened to him over the 5 years,

Yeah, like how he got to be a captain in the Russian Mafia on the island?
