If anybody is in a "compatible" country, here's the link to the market:
    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.android.chrome

I'm running Android 4.0 on the Galaxy Nexus and it still says incompatible. Geo-restricted, I think.

    Bullsh.t.

    Who's got an apk? :)

Looking very nice on the GNex :-)

The Tabs are very slick. Can swipe from left or right to move through them like a stack of cards, or even the normal menu view is very well implemented.

Can also browse the tabs currently open on my desktop(s) and share bookmarks and all that.

And all round very nice looking and Chrome-y.

    Me gusta.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭killbillvol2

I like it! Imported all my bookmarks and seems very smooth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭heebusjeebus

It's stable for me. Tab management is cool and it's nice too see open tabs from my pc's.
I'll stick with it but I'm gonna miss the thumb controls from ICS Browser +.

Doesn't work for me. Tells me there is a problem parsing the package, and when I try and view it as an app in astro file manager, it tells me it's not a valid apk file? I have an unrooted GN running 4.0.2. I uploaded it via dropbox, and then via cable when that didn't work, but still no joy.

    Try downloading again?

I actually download mine from this link, rather than the one above, maybe try it: www.mediafire.com/?2dgkp3kchxdukil

    Thanks.

Looks good n bad so far.

    Lightening fast!!

Did nothing a lot of lag on redrawing during scrolling .. used independent.ie and fast scrolling ain't smooth.
Open tabs don't seem to stay in memory and can refresh when moving to and from tabs

    Good start on beta tho

For some reason, the other link didn't download the correct file for me. That one looks more promising for me.

Edit: Works now, excellent. Is there any way to not have the address bar always at the top of the screen?

Quick Stats : Downloaded The Great Chinholio's apk and installed on Nexus S on ICS 4.0.3. No issues.

First impressions pretty much the same as everyone else.
    Good:
    Nice interface
    Like the sync between desktop
    Like the tabs

    Bad:
    Bit sluggish.
Plug-ins not supported on AERTV. You'd hope support will be forthcoming for flash.

Not a bad start, but I'll keep to Dolphin HD for now.

Bah. Saw the title and was convinced my shiny new tab would run this. ICS update can't come soon enough

So far so good on my sensation, looks nice...

I like the speedy loading, I like the tabs methodology.

I don't like the laggyness when redrawing through scrolling.
I don't like the lack of flash support....ever.
I don't like the lack of the advanced quick menu, and the fact because of that it doesn't default to fullscreen and the bar at the top wastes pixels.
I don't like the fact the bookmarks aren't snapshots of the webpage as per the stock ICS browser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Just found out my dropad might be getting ICS in a couple months, suppose thats a silver lining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,062 ✭✭✭Uriel.

Does it address the text entry issue on forums etc... i.e. the fact that in the stock ICS browser there is no auto correct or predicative text etc??

    Yes it does auto correct!

Finally. Can't wait to be rid of Dolphin HD.

This is worth getting (on your desktop Chrome): Chrome to Mobile Beta.

Bit of an update and improvement to the old "Chrome to Phone" extension. Mostly the same deal, but has a nice "send copy for offline viewing" option, which is nice.

Excellent. Just tried it out there and it is like sweet relief. Pity about the permanent address bar at the top and lack of flash support though. Don't know if the trade off is worth it.

Android 4 doesn't support Flash at all though, nothing to do with Chrome?

Do you think that will change in ICS though? If not, I won't be installing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,763 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

ICS does have flash, and the stock browser views flash content perfectly. Chrome beta however will never support flash, and is html 5 only. Flash have pulled support for any new Flash editions and that means any new browser, such as chrome, is unsupported.

    Oh right, so it does!

When ICS was first released it didn't have Flash support, and I guess it just never bothered me enough to ever check had it been fixed.

It's not that great a loss, tbh. Even Adobe are giving up on Flash.

Doubt i be getting this on my lowly europa any time soon..

I'm assuming that the general internet will be moving stuff to HTML5 rather than flash soon as well then? Bit crap that there are 2 standards out there.

Quick question, I have synced my open tabs to my phone, but can't find anyway of updating it, it still says last synced 40 minutes ago, how do I make it sync again when I wish?

Does it do that automatically? I looked at mine at it "synced" 30 mins ago. Then I closed out of that on mobile and opened a new tab on desktop, went back to phone and it updated itself to show the change.

I closed Chrome on my browser and then re opened, it all seems to be fine now, and working like you said, I guess it's just one of those kinks you will always find with betas

Love the way it syncs pages and bookmarks between the phone and my laptops.
    Nice touch.

Im seeing very few advantages to getting this over the ICS browser?

    Am i missing something???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,264 ✭✭✭✭manual_man

Still using Opera Mobile - fast, and reliable. Tried Dolphin HD and it constantly crashed. Until something better comes out, I'll be sticking with this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 htcocacola

using it this past day or 2 and so far so good

Incognito or Private Browsing mode. Most browsers have it these days, including (I think) the stock ICS browser. Unless that's an addition in the rom I'm using.

It allows you to browse without saving to your history or storing any cookies.

Switched from opera mobile to boat browser myself which I love. Is this better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭heebusjeebus

I played with it for a few days but have now gone back to ICS Browser + because it's quicker for navigating and bookmark access. The only benefit I see in Chrome is viewing my open desktop tabs.
