are they still running the bjj classes?

I joined last month. I hurt my back the day after I joined, so so far I have only been there twice and my povs are based on just 2 visits.

Membership is 60 euros a month. There is no joining fee and you do not have to commit to a one year membership. You pay by the month. The facilities, equipment, classes etc are excellent. They give free towels, hair dryers, lotion, shampoo etc etc so that you don't have to tote your own there. The pool, jacuzzi, sauna, changing rooms are spotless. As its core clientele are hotel guests who are business people, is is half empty most of the time, I don't know what bjj is. The gym is part of the Clarion Hotel. The gym does not have its own dedicated car park, but the hotel does have its own car park so you could always park there, or in the Jurys Inn car park just up the road. Rates vary depending on the time of day. The gym is located beside the Mayor Sq Luas stop so I you can get there very easily without a car.

Anyone a member of this gym?

Very hard to find up to date info...

Is it good for free weights and rowing?

Recently decided to prevent members from keeping items in lockers overnight. Also snipped locks and removed items that were in the locker I was using - about €30 worth. Reason given: not enough lockers available at peak times - need to make them equally available for everyone. If half the lockers in there weren't broken then they wouldn't have this problem (same for the shower doors - the place is not in great shape). Could be an excellent little club but recent change of management has seriously changed (and dis-improved) this place.

Plenty of gyms don't allow people to store stuff in lockers overnight.

Why would you be leaving stuff in a locker over night??!

True but most gyms don't charge €60 a month. Ben Dunne: 195 a year, SV in the IFSC - 399 a year. Carlisle is not materially different to Sanovitae but almost 4x the price. Why?? And they treat customers like this - snipping the lock and taking my stuff.

So I don't have to bring it in every day. Not talking about used gym gear hear BTW - it's the other stuff.

You don't own the locker. You are using a locker that someone else could be using. Whether they charge 20e or 100e for membership is irrelevant.

    Carlisle is a kip.

Carlisle is exactly the same as Sanovitae in terms of facilities. In fact most of their machines are newer and the free weights are less than 10 years old (unlike Sanovitae where I can't even tell what the weights are because the numbers are worn off). Must mean that Sanovitae is a kip using this logic. I'm fine with that assertion.

There are around 60 lockers in there and around half of them are broken. If they fixed that then there would be no problem.

I think the cost is quite relevant. Charging higher fees = premium service. No problem, provided the service is premium. But it's not.

By the way, there's one point that they do score well on - free Wifi. Don't know any other gym that provides that.

If you feel your paying for a premium service that you're not getting, then move to a gym where you get what you pay for.

I plan to do just that.

I have to admit overnight free storage would be handy sometimes :p
But not storing things overnight is pretty standard anyway, they've a sign up in our place about it and warning your lock will be snipped and stuff removed
