Weight loss supplements

    I'm trying to lose weight and for the last 3 or 4 months i've been on a very limited diet (beans on Toast) I have lost about 3 stone but for the last 3 weeks it seems impossible to lose anything so now I'm going to start to eat more sensibly and do a bit of exercise.

    I'm now 19st 10lb. I intend to eat more Tuna, Eggs, chicken, Fruit and veg. etc.

    I want to do some basic exercise to start off with but my main question is... Do the weight loss supplements work and if so can anyone recommend a good one to use.
    I can not afford gym membership but would a weight bench help because i feel it might motivate me more having a focus as I'm at home all day and it might be the next best thing,
    as I can not afford to be spending a ton of money i would appreciate any help making the right choice,
    I only have one leg and no Prosthetic limb so walking, running is out of the question.
    I'm lifting a few smallish weights from sitting in a chair to start with.

    Lay out current diet in detail.

    Lifting weights would help in a massive way yes

    Some basic home exercises are push-ups, pull-ups, supine rows, dips. There's a whole lot of weights & benches up on donedeal.ie for little money like.

    At the moment I'm eating,

    9am, 2 x Whole meal Toast,

    12.30, 1 x Sandwich, Tuna or Chicken, plain on whole meal bread,

    6pm, Varies, might be Beans on Toast, Chicken or Fish with a few veg or a 3 egg Omelet.

    I also would eat about 3 pieces of fruit a day
    and snack on fresh, raw veg, Broccoli, Carrots etc.

    Drinking nothing other than water, approximately 5 liters a day.

    Before this I used to eat more, of corse but not as bad as you might think,
    I'm the only one in the family who is overweight, I always have been but I used to eat the dreaded chocolate bars and loved ice cream. That has now stopped for the last 4 months.

    I'm sitting on a dining chair with 2 x 5 liter water bottles, so that's 5kg in each arm lifting forwards with straight arms to above the head x 25 at a time and doing a minimum of 300 a day.
    I know this is only very basic exercise but it's just a starting point. Will do much more when i get a bench.

    Eat more, you're starving yourself.

    It don't feel like i'm starving myself,
    I'm a bit hungry but not ridiculously so.
    My main goal is weight loss.

    There's a big difference between being hungry and starving your body.

    You're eating enough volume of food, probably helped by snacking on vegetables, so you're not hungry. However from looking at the outline of what you said you eat on a typical day you're probably not even making 1000 calories. Taking a 2000 kcal baseline for maintaining your current weight, you've halved it. Taking the rough guide of 20-25% deficit for fat loss you're eating 25% less than that again.

    Essentially, you're taking in so little calories your body has had enough and triggered the starvation response, holding on to every bit of fat as best as it can until it starts taking in more calories. Solution? Eat more. Eat more protein. Eat more often, 3 meals per day with gaps of 5hrs 30mins and 15hrs (overnight) isn't good for fat loss.So yes, forget the supplements and get the basics right :)

    The fruit and vegetable calorie content is negligible to be honest, you'd want to be eating a crazy amount for it to have any real effect on calories. Even then, your protein intake is too low.

    I've been drinking lots of water to keep myself feeling full (5 to 7 liters a day)

    Well I just had dinner,
    I had 4 fish fingers, 3 onion rings garden peas and whole brown rice.
    Just clearing out the last of the junk in the freezer before shopping on Wednesday for more healthy stuff,
    Any pointers for the healthy things that can be bought and prepared reasonably,
    Protein, I was thinking of a bit more chicken, fish and a bit of steak, ?
    I also keep hens so i have enough eggs but I'm no great cook so i just use them for omelets.
    What kind of breakfast is healthy (without cooking in the morning) I'm just having toast at present.
    I'm trying to do my best here on very little money or knowledge and almost no cooking ability :D

    saw it in the consumer association magazine

    I tried to find a link to the list, but alas

    Porridge oats. Stick them into a saucepan before bed with a good bit of water. Makes them cook faster. Or use quick oats.

    I'm currently eating a teacup full of porridge (from the packet) mixed with one diced apple a sprinkle of cinnamon and some honey when it's in the bowl.

    No idea how many calories that is. It's as addictive as crunchy nut cornflakes.

    Separate some of the egg yolks (half or them) if you're really into the omelette. Saves calories.

    Green tea is also another good replacement IMO.

    I'm going to try the Green Tea,
    I don't ever drink tea or coffee, never have done but i'm going to try it, do you think the capsules would be as effective as the drink,

    Will also try the quick oats first then the porridge, that's something else i've never tried.

    and i do like omelets but i'm not really in to them but just trying to use the eggs seen as i have loads of them.

    Is the bread really bad, I just love beens on toast, not quite addicted but nearly,

    As for the toast in the morning thats going to stop and i'm going to try the oats but i really, really don't like milk, never ever have done.

    Dump the bread and the beans and the tuna, the tuna is high in sodium making you hold water weight and making you bloated, you should be doing weights 4 times per week and two HIIT sessions per week. your diet should be something like this


    meal1: 4 egg whites, one whole egg, Chicken breast, protein shake, cup of broccolli, handful of nuts, (thats a big amount of your protein intake for the day, your meals should be getting gradually smaller after this)

    Meal2: fish(not tuna) with spinach cauliflower and tomatoes

    Meal3: Chicken breast with mixed veg salad and tomatoes

    Meal4: Sirloin steak, (all fat trimmed) with carrotts and broccolli

    Meal5:This meal is preferred as your post workout meal: chicken breast with small portion of brown rice

    Meal6: Fish or chicken with a good portion of broccolli(as is your last meal the fibre in the broccolli will keep you full)



    You should be taking a multivitamin, creatine and fish oils too, for a pre workout supplement you could take BSN Nitrix, no calories in it, a lot of pre workout shakes raise your insulin levels, you would wanna keep those levels stable and low.For the HIIT(High Instensity Interval Training) you should get a program called insanity, its extremely tough but i guarantee the weight will literally fall off you in a month. You could do the insanity program for two months and then implement weights and HIIT(insanity) after that, But thats up to you, youll know which is best by lookin at your body.Insanity can be downloaded off www.torrentz.eu or check it out first on www.beachbody.com, hope this helps bro,Easy!!!

    Did you even read the OP? Dont think the insanity programme would be suitable given their physical circumstances

    No need to cut out bread completely- why do people think they have to be extreme?- but saying that, you are eating a lot of it and you need to think of what your are putting on it; butter/marg? Mayo? So just reduce your bread intake and enjoy your beans on toast for one of your meals but maybe replace your breakfast carb with oats and for your other meal try 30g brown basmati (or other wholegrain carb) rice instead.

    If you are inactive in the evening there is no harm in taking a starchy carb out of your evening meal and loading your plate with lots of green veggies and a lean protein instead- I found this little change worked for me.
