Help the Madden NFL Players Get Their Own Forum

    Hi lads.

I hope this is allowed if it's not then a moderator can lock the thread.

For the American Football forum followers who don't look in the Madden 12 thread, we are currently in the process of requesting a forum, either sub forum of the American Football forum, or of the Games forum if necessary.

Basically, we want to create a forum for the league which would make it a lot easier for the running of the league and will also cause the league to expand even more. For those of you who don't know, we currently have 20 members in our league which has doubled since we first began in Madden 11. We believe that the league can continue to grow and it will no doubt help us to grow if we get the new forum. The main reasons for the sub forum are detailed in the post I posted in the forum request thread:

I'd like to make the claim for a Madden forum for the same reasons that the American Football Fantasy Forum came about. This would be more for logistical reasons than the volume of people who use it. Once again, like the Fantasy Football thread in the AF forum, it was too hard to follow as a lot of things can get lost within the day and hard to find.

Firstly, I'll describe the league. The online franchise currently caters for 20 people which has grown from the 10 we had this time last year. Each week it is required for a player to complete their game and then on every Sunday the league is moved on to the following week. The forum would give us a lot easier means of communication between one another and I know that it would never slow down, I'd guarantee that.

Secondly, it would make the arranging of fixtures a lot easier to do. Every week, once the league is advanced, a new thread would be put up with the fixtures in it, allowing people to see who they are playing and they then put down the times they are available to play in this thread. This shows how much easier it is as posts in the big thread about fixtures very often get lost, leading to a lot of confusion and sometimes games don't get played. I'd like to point you to this website where some of us play in different franchises which is how the weekly fixtures thread would be put up: http://immaturegamers.net/forumdisplay.php/62-F-Franchise-FSLs

Thirdly, threads would also be set up for each team, known as 'Trade Blocks'. Basically this is where players would post in their own threads, which of their players are up for traded, sort of like on the transfer market. Since there are 20 people playing in the leagues, that equates to 20 threads, one for every team. Once again I'll point you to this site for reference to what it would look like: http://immaturegamers.net/forumdisplay.php/23-R-Franchise-Trades

With the threads for fixture lists and the threads for trade blocks, there would easily be 20-25 threads on the go at any one time. There wouldn't even be a need for any moderation as every one gets along with everyone. The forum would still fall under the AF charter and any problems such as personal abuse or the likes can be dealt with by the current AF Mods once the report function is use.

I'd just like to say this isn't your usual forum request either. Obviously this isn't a request due to a huge amount of users(>100) but it's more logistical. It'll make everything a lot easier to organise and we really want to keep it under the Boards.ie website as it is where we started and where it has grown. I have absolutely no doubt that it would be a huge success and it's userbase would grow(we already have another 2 people signed up for next season with a week to go!).

Thanks very much for reading and I really hope you consider this.

EDIT: Just to show the volume per thread. This is 2011's thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055897826

And this is 2012's thread so far: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056371679

Can I just point out the 2012's thread is only 5 months old and has already surpassed the year long 2011 one. This shows how it's growing and will be close to 5000 posts by the end of it.

I'd ask you all to read people's opinions on this thread and if you believe it makes sense for a sub forum to be created, can I please ask you to leave a +1 and your own opinion.

    Thanks very much lads.

    Ha! Love that bit!!!

Well argued, and from what I can see a great case for one, if the Boards FF league can have a sub-forum then I can see no reason for the Madden league not to have one. Hopefully join you all on their some day in the future. Two small kids eating intp my gaming time at the moment!!- I'm sure you will get it.

Just want to bump this up as I think it is really important that we get support from other members of the AF forum. It is important that you post a +1 and not just thank the thread btw. A thank you doesn't count as a vote in favour.
