What do you eat in a typical day? (yesterday for example)

    3K on the treadmill = probably 250 calories tops (i.e. a twix).

You're wasting your time in the gym. Either speed up the treadmill and start sweating and panting, or lift weights.

Post up what you eat. Chances are that a good low carb diet will work best for you, there are non-boring ways of doing it.

i run 3.27 km in gym in 18 minutes
    i do abdominal crunch
    bicycle
    mostly chest exercises

i would have poached eggs on browen bread
then maybe 2 slices brown bread salad cheese romato pepper
    i eat some nuts , maybe on a day i eat 6 apples , 4 mandarins 1 banana ,
dinner maybe roast chicken vegetables celery broccoli no potatoes , but have suddenly started eating biscuits
    dont drink enough water

Start doing whole body exercises. Squat (works abs like magic) deadlift, bench press, dips, pull-ups, stiffleg deadlift, military press, lunges, etc

Cut out some of the bread. Even brown bread is mostly empty carbs. Try a bit less fruit and more veg. Throw more protein into your lunch. Tuna or salmon is quick and easy.

Try some cottage cheese when you feel like biscuits. A couple of squares of very dark chocolate is good too.

3 things that I think would help

    reduce portion sizes
    slow speed of eating
    & deal with night eating

Night eating is usually emotional eating, if you are not hungry and your eating then usually something is eating you.

Night eating is pretty easy to solve, just don't have snacks or things that are easy to eat in the house, keep ingredients or maybe some raw veg for that 'mindless eating' craving.(I recommend carrot or sugar-snap peas) I don't think you'll be so quick to eat something if you have to boil and mash potatoes and grill a porkchop, and if you're that determined then you were probably really hungry!

Someone made the point to me the other day that probably one of the many reasons why non-industrial societies don't have any overweight people is that laziness wins over non-intense hunger every time.

Often I think of an evening, god I'd love a chocolate bar, but am I willing to get off the couch, put my coat and scarf on, walk in the cold to the shop and walk back? Most of the time the answer is 'meh' and I eat an apple.:) You can't control your cravings but you can control your environment.
