Poor Rumble overall.Happy for Sheamus to win it though.

and the 2012 winner of the Royal Rumble is our very own great white fellah Sheamus!

I can see The Sun headline now...

    British Royal Rumble winner!

    :)

Happy for the big man. Great sign in terms of how highly they rate him.

Really enjoyed the whole show, and thought the Rumble match was the best it's been in years.

Delighted that Sheamus deservedly got the win ahead of Jericho,Sheamo v Bryan @Mania has the potential to be awesome.

5/8 on the prediction thread too haha!

ill put the poll up in a few hours, give people time to reflect before voting etc not just give it a 10 becuase it was Sheamus or rate it too badly in a reactionary sense either

So Mania so far looks like:

Sheamo v Bryan to open, get it off on the right foot.

Orton v Barrett in there somewhere

Jericho to win at EC or become top contender one way or another. Jericho v Punk near main event

    Rock v Cena obviously headline

Taker perhaps? What's the story with him? Not been watching but I know he's basically retired, could he make one last appearance, get 20-0 and ride off into the sunset after that?

Ricardo stole the show. Dissapointed Foley went out so early

Imagine if drew won the title off Bryan in the chamber?!

A match I witnessed along with about 120 others in a sports hall in balbriggan could be a title match at WM 5 years on?! Oh if only I had a time machine!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 850 ✭✭✭Muff_Daddy

Maybe it's the Whiskey talking, but I feckin loved everythin about that Royal Rumble (Big Show aside......seriously they could have put Mason Ryan as no.30 and I wouldn't have been as disappoioned).

    The Miz and Cody performances.

The Foley/Santino bit was gold, I don;t give a damn what anyone says.

    Kofi as Houdini.

    Kharma making Cole **** Bricks.

And of course the Fella Winning!!!

Kane fuking sh1t up was entertaining as well.

As was Big Show sitting atop the cage (should have stayed there to be honest).

We now presumeably have Shameus v Bryan, which was criminalnly dropped from the WM card last year.....only this time its the RR winner vs the world champ! Assuming Bryan keps the title in the EC.

    9/10 for me.

That's feckin mental. Couldn't agree more on the twitter status actually

WWE outsmarting themselves a bit though, Jericho winning it would have sent Mania hype into overdrive instead of setting up the opener. Thing is, WWE are redoing the Batista line from 2005 where the upcoming big guy on the block gets MASSIVELY over, wins the Rumble and becomes the new big face. They're even similar in build and style...

could have really done with being 40 man again imo, I mean, Jey Uso in the last 10 isn't something you want and Big Show at 30 clearly had no chance. No real surprises though Ricardo was entertaining...

Overall I'm satisifed with the PPV and I paid for the pleasure.

    Minor complaints:
-Disappointed They didn't decide to give Kane the actual win to put that bit more pressure on Cena.
-Certainly didn't like the censoring of Road Dogg's theme tune. You're doing well with the PG thing at the moment, WWE, please don't mess it up, especially going into WrestleMania.
-Jericho not being the Rumble winner. Like Sheamus but he's just not Chris Jericho.

Glad Drew McIntyre got on PPV, glad Natalya didn't fart and I thought the Rumble itself was entertaining as hell. Seems the Barrett/Orton fued was snuffed out pretty quick (surprised Orton didn't get back in to at least RKO Jericho) but a lot of silly fun with people I didn't think were going to win anyway and the pace didn't slow down that much when the like of Mahal turned up. Match was mostly free of Superstars/NXT's roster too and that's not a bad thing as far as credibility goes. Sure, I would have liked Trent Barreta in the match but he's not a regular Raw/Smackdown presence so it makes sense that he, Tatsu, Kidd, Hawkins etc. weren't in it.

he has a backstage role and also made an appearance at the Slammies. I dont expect to see a regular return but if they need someone to fill a spot he still seems to have it both in ring and on the mic.

All the people online saying that Sheamus winning was a gigantic swerve hurts my soul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 367 ✭✭Horsebox9000

Quite enjoyed that myself, popped for Sheamus' win at the end.

I honestly thought Jericho was going to win it(even though I didn't want him to), must say that's burst his comeback bubble.

    Punk Vs Ziggler was good.

Brodus always gets 5 stars from me.

    Divas was meh

Liked the cage match and very happy to see Bryan is still champ.

Cena vs Kane was ok. Glad to Cena get a hiding.

All in all looking forward to Raw.

I think they made a mistake having Jericho in the last two if he wasn't going to win it. He should have entered the RR and immediately exited again to keep trolling. Having him in the last two, looking like he was really trying to win, then having Sheamus beat him now ruins all Jericho's momentum.

Don't get me wrong, delighted Sheamus won. I just don't see who he could face at Wrestlemania. He has no existing feud really, and I think it's doubtful that Bryan will walk away from Elimination Chamber still champion. I think this could end up being another show-opener, or midcard at best.

Also, what the hell are they doing with Ryder?

I had an idea for a while that Sheamus was going to win the Rumble. Unreal that a guy wrestling on the Irish and British circuit 5 years ago will be headlining WrestleMania.

Delighted for Sheamus but I'm even happier and didn't order the Rumble. Sounded like a poor PPV.

Disappointed with the rumble itself but literely feel off the couch when Seamus hit the brogue kick and Jericho hit the outside mats - was absolutely sure Jericho was in for the win.

Loved the Mister socko versus The Cobra stuff.
Road dogg - awesone - "you've still got it" indeed.
Hacksaw return was great but for one brief moment i thought WWe might play the ultimate swerve and have the fat f*8ker win it, (what it it been the anniversery and him winning the first one etc).

Disappointed with the lack of numbers in the ring at any one time - usually you have 1 or 2 sections where there are 10-12 guys in the ring at the same time, i think the most at any 1 time last night was 7 or 8... just didnt feehave that 'rumble; feeling to it.

Also, there was no spot where 6-8 wrestlers team up to try and dump a massive fat bast*rd out (in vain) - call me old school but I missed that.

good enough Rumble I was more disappointed with the opening then the rumble itself, the matches seemed a bit short for my liking but sure at least id made me want to tune into RAW even if its going to be full of HHH.

Delighted Sheamus won for so many reasons

    - He's Sheamus
    - He's bleeding deadly
    - Work rate - Working both Raw and Smackdown for months
    - Logical booking for an over face - needed badly with Cena getting booed
    - Jericho didn't win, for reasons previously stated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,808 ✭✭✭Sirsok

Great rumble thinkin maybe it was a poor idea having jericho in with shemus at the end as a lot of fans wanted jericho to win it....for example if it was barratt n shemo, the fans would of genuinely wanted shemo to win as oppose to barratt...instead they seemed to favour y2j ....good ending though n enjoyed it a lot

very poor rumble, especially being hyped to the nines being the 25th one.

WHC match was okay, but nothing special, and a cheap finish.

Kane Vs Cena was pants, they built up the "embrace the hate" thing, then have Cena coming out all happy go lucky, and did nothing to forward Cena's heel turn.

Women's match speaks for itself, Beth destroying Kelly for millionth time, that would have been the spot to have Kharma make her reappearance.

Brodus Gay in another squash match does not belong in a PPV. EVER!

Punk Vs Ziggler was very meh. Punk didnt get screwed, and Ziggler burried before his push has even started. I'm worried Punk might fall into the Superface Vs Generic Heel mode that Cena had, everything that Punk supposedly hates.

    There was so much to hate about the main event;

    - Miz's boring promo
    - Lack of numbers in the ring at once
    - Far too many gimmick entrants, did you really need all 3 commentators in there?
    - No Kane in the Rumble
    - Wade Barrett's new entrance music (seriously WTF?)

Neither here nor there about Sheamus winning, but would have prefered to have Jericho win, set up the Mania match with Punk.

Met him a few years back at an event held up at my sports club and he was the most easy going person you would ever speak to and after the event he was out chatting to the fans longer then anyone else so i was well happy he won last night.

World Heavyweight Championship match- Boring, but I didn't expect much with both Big Show and Mark Henry involved. Happy Bryan retained even though I knew he would.

Divas match- Pure and utter sh*te. As always

Cena and Kane- I knew the Royal Rumble match would end in a controversial fashion with either a DQ or some other finish that wouldn't make Cena look too weak. But i'm happy they didn't bitch Kane out either, as far as i'm concerned he's the real winner in that match since he came out on top. Kopefully he stays that way and dosen't resort back to the same old jobber Kane a few months later.

WWE Championship- Weird ending I thought. My prediction was that CM punk would get screwed and then enter the Rumble and win. But even so, I didn't get the finish, it looked like Johnny Ace was trying to stop Punk from winning the entire match but then allowed him to win in the end.

Royal Rumble- Most of the suprise entrants were quite predictiable except for maybe Kharma and Jim Duggan. But I knew Road Dogg would definetely be in it and Booker T. Number 30 was pretty ****, I mean Big Show really? Wish it was Undertaker, it would have been epic. Congrads to Sheamus, he was my second pick to win the Rumble this year.

Also, seeing Kharma turn Hunico into a paper plane made it worth watching the rumble match.

If the WWE were hoping that vid would make the crowd cheer for Cena they were dead wrong.

I'm not a cena fan but I thought was a good video regardless....better then the rocks

I thought it was a very enjoyable PPV from top to bottom. The World title match was what it was because Henry is injured (props to him for even stepping inside the cage in those cicrumstances) and I thought the ending was strong and does the job of keeping the belt on Bryan.

I loved Kane vs Cena. I got annoyed at the time that Cena was all smiles and jokes but the ending leaves no doubt that this is continuing. Kane should have got given the win though.

The WWE title match was good, although I wasn't expecting Ziggles to be squashed like that. Punk could have won it three or four times before he did.

The other two matches did what they needed to do. Beth's demoliotion of the division made sense when we saw Kharma return to a face pop an hour later. That's your Mania women's title match.

I thought the Rumble was almost perfectly booked. They're light on star power from a year ago but I thought they used what they had very well with a number of well-received surprise entrants along the way. My only real complaints were Barrett's poor showing after a strong build and both Big Show & Otunga being in the last four entrants. If one of the big guys was pulling double-duty it should have been Kane. The final two was very well done. I felt sure that Jericho would win but have no complaints about Sheamus winning it and it'll be interesting to see where they go from here.

    Not a good event overall.

WHC match was really short, and not that good.

    Divas = piśs break.

Punk vs Ziggler could have been better. I'd like to see these two go one on one, with no gimmicks, outside enforcers etc, and for longer than 15 mins.

Forgot about Kane and Cena (that's how memorable this was!) Kane should have tombstoned Eve while he was at it. A let down of a match.

There should never be squash matches on a PPV. Plus, Clays finisher is Shîte. Was hoping Drew would cave his head in with a Futureshock DDT.

Rumble match was a let down, I mean Mitchell Cole? Come on... The last few minutes were the best with Sheamo and Jericho.

    4/10

I can't stand it. I swear it happened three or four times per show in the build-up to Mania last year and was used in the Rumble match at least twice last night.

I prefer it when they're talking about twitter.

Who the **** gave it 10/10?

I did. I enjoyed it from start to finish more than any PPV I've seen since MITB, I agreed with all but one of the booking decisions and was thoroughly entertained throughout.

Like many, I'll criticise WWE when they put out stuff I don't like so am happy to praise them when they've done well.

Gave it a 5/10. The Jericho and Sheamus sequence at the end got it up from a 4. Some parts of it I just hated Orton throwing out Barrett as if he was a Uso, No Christian and when Cole came in I thought JR was going to come out he might aswell have he'd of gotten a bigger pop than most of the guys put in it. Big Show at 30 what a earth shattering dissappointment, I prayed they made it a 40 man one at the last second. 2 world title matches were alrite nothing more, diva stuff is just a channel hopper and Drew getting beat again annoyed the hell out of me. Sheamus and Jericho saved the rumble for me I genuinely didn't know who'd win it, glad Sheamus won it he deserved it after a good year. Hope they do Sheamus vs Christian at Mania now that could be a early MOTY contender.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,774 ✭✭✭Big Daddy Cool

personally i think it was a terrible ppv, it was all rather anti climatic after the build up most of the matches recieved, triple threat match was rather meh, cena kane was what i expected, punk's match was a letdown considering the build up, and as for jericho and his ''end of the world'' promise, again a big let down, its no surprise people switch off when he comes on, although it was great to see ryder make a miraculous recovery and sitting in a chair 6 days after having his back broke but surely we'll never see him again after that tombstone.

the rumble match itself, i taught it was the poorest rumble match ive seen in years, i felt cole and booker t practically gave the result away when seamus walked out. it was embarrassing looking at foley ramble out and that was before socko v's cobra . best moments of the match Kharma and ziggler, the road dogg and obviously the big red iorish machine winning it :D

If I could mark the Rumble separately Between the RR match and the rest of the card.

Rumble itself was entertaining but very forgettable. I'll give it an 8.

Rest of the card, even with Punk vs Dolph gets a 5/10. Cage match could have been longer, Cena vs Kane could have been a hell of a lot better and 2 stupid throwaway matches in there aswell. (Brodus could have easily done that spot in the Rumble match)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

Undercard sucked, great videos for Rock and Cena, Punk/Ziggler really underachieved and it was a fun Rumble with a very good closing sequence (though it did drastically expose the severe lack of depth on WWE's roster). 4/10.
