almost every Sunday evening, it varies between chips, curry dip, battered sausage and cheeseburger, or breast box and onion rings, or about 4 times a year I'd get a chinese. A 5 in 1 or special fried rice.

When I get to feeling I'm much too lazy to cook and I happen to be just energetic enough to walk to the chinese, chipper, McD's etc...

    Or when I'm drunk.

So approximately 12 times a week.

On a lazy evening I would order a pizza & a few beers. Probably happens at least twice a week.

Used to get at least 1 a week. Probably 1 a month now though, healthy eating buzz!

Used to be once or twice a week, now it's more like once every two or three weeks.

When my friends are off from college it could be twice a week (after drinking).

    Rarely. Once a month maybe.

I'm not counting a bag of chips on the way home from the pub which I might get every other week or so.

Every two or three weeks: usually a Chinese, Kung Pao Beef, chow mein or shredded beef with chilli, or else I'll try something new.

My main food vice is popcorn at the cinema, so I don't allow myself too many takeaways. I usually prefer to cook my own stuff too, but we all get lazy sometimes.
The take away is so much nicer when you haven't had one in a while too.

Never had that thing of a defined weekly takeaway. I try to avoid them more now anyway so probably twice a month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,691 ✭✭✭Lia_lia

Once or twice a year I'd say.

Saturday night is takeaway night. I cook every other day, so I love having the one day off!

Mostly chinese, but the odd time would order a pizza.

    rarely if ever these days

Usually one weekend night in a month, I might get an Indian Takeaway. No matter how hard I try I cannot replicate the dishes at home.

I couldn't justify buying a pizza considering it is just tomato puree, cheese, ham, etc. on toast IMO.

I know! I've tried doing without it, but I feel a smoker trying to give up cigarettes: I don't know what to do with my hands.

I've tried bringing in sweets from a shop, but it just doesn't feel right if I don't have cinema popcorn at the cinema, especially if it's a big event movie.
And unfortunately, Manhattan popcorn just doesn't cut it for,

Used to get them once a week, but with 4 kids its far to expensive to get a takeaway these days.
So sometimes when the kids are in bed the hubby goes in for a sneaky spring roll or shredded chicken.
It's like a little bit of heaven.

6 times a year at a push. Way cheaper to just cook something.

Used to be once a week or so but in an attempt to be more healthy, it's more like once, sometimes twice, a month now.

Usually once every 2 weeks, but now with exams around, 3 times a week :(

Once a week, at most. Though I should point out that a "takeaway" for me consists of a spinach curry and a Naan bread, and maybe a samosa.

For most people getting a takeaway that would be their starter, so I don't know if it counts.

Jesus, who said every day

I can't remember when the last time I got takeaway, it's literally that long ago. I can only eat certain foods, so there would be nothing I could order in really.

Even the nicest of thai/indian take aways lose some of their taste and succulence during their 20 min transit and storage in plastic containers.

Much prefer to go to a restaurant and have the food served fresh out of the kitchen. Nowadays, with the deals and value around it is just as cheap to eat out (as long as your not drinking loads of wine)...

    A 5 in 1?? The most I can handle is 4.. What's this extra 1?

What if instead of ordering food from your fav Thai restaurant you sat in the restaurant to eat it (like an actual nice restaurant). Is that a takeaway? Or do you actually have to take it away from the place you order it from?

Chippy tea every Friday - it's the law.

We'll get an Indian maybe once a month or so.

    Wtf is a 'Chippy Tea'??

I did some calculations and I came to the conclusion that Tea = Dinner and Chippy = Chips?

Too often. Chinese and pizza, mmmm.

Once or twice a week. Mainly an Indian and/or a Thai, the rare time a chipper or dominos.

Went off Chinese a long time ago.

Take away is take away. Collected or delivered.

Though, I do see your point though. Maybe it should have been worded 'how often do you eat fast food', or something like that.

It all depends on if i'm having a sober week or not. If I'm staying away from the drink then maybe once a week i'll have a takeaway, if it's a boozed up wkend then it could be more like 5 or 6

But you see that is my point. Is resturant food fast food? I go to a nice resturant sometimes and get some nice good food and don't count that as a takeaway. But they also happen to do a delivery service.

Supermac's on a Sunday evening. Can't be arsed cooking.

I miss my Borza fix :( the chips over here are pish. The Chinese down the road here is quality but it's very expensive (gots to love the big city prices). I've replaced delivered pizza with casa di mama frozen ones; I never believed a frozen pizza could be soooo good.

So, all in, I'd say ~3 times a month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 497 ✭✭Hairycopper

Every three weeks or so. Had a take away three times a week during Christmas holidays though..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,299 ✭✭✭✭later12

I never order take-out food. It's not that I am an amazing cook, but I would rather put something together myself. If I want junk food, I'll whip out a pizza base from the fridge, and throw on whatever I want, stick it in the oven, and eat.

Besides, I don't know anywhere else that does turkey pizzas, mmm.

Also, I hate chips with a passion. I think they're revolting, especially when they're all soggy with grease and vinegar. I have ordered them a few times when drunk, and always wake up with the most disgusting taste of chip oil in my mouth..

Same here, the half-dozen times a year I might get a takeaway it's nearly always Indian, occasionally Thai or chipper. Never Chinese, hate the stuff - think it has been 4/5 years since I actually had one.

Also on the healthy eating buzz now, but even before I was never a regular takeaway patron.

I do miss vinegar-drenched chipper chips though :(

If I was going to eat crap I would eat crap I cooked myself for a fraction of the price.
I like a McDonalds Mcflurry. Drive thru only. I don't like the smell of the place.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Though, I can only assume that the OP means the bad stuff, Chinese, chipper food, pizza's or whatever.
