Need to get fit for sports

I'm back playing sports and recent diet changes have lost 10 lbs in the last two weeks with about 20 more to go. I have been team training 3 nights a week however I find the running we do always finds me trailing at the back of the group.

Some of it is pure stamina and just not having the capacity yet but I also noticed that when doing sprints that involve a turn that I'm with the group until the turn but once I slow down for the corner I get lost in the turn out as the others accelerate away from me. Any helpful tips?

I also train on my own trying to build my stamina firstly by going for 4/5 mile runs so some of my problem will be muscle fatigue as well. Any help will be appreciated

try some interval training for improving speed and fitness levels. If you look up H.I.T.T (high intensity interval training) on Google you will get some really good pointers. This really worked for me when i got back training as it increases fitness really quickly alongside training your body to dispose of lactic acid more effectively, meaning less fatigue holding you back.
Agility training will improve the turning corners issue, this is effectively just practicing changing directions while running ect. Better rugby coaching.com has some good agility exercises that can carry over for benefits in any sport! hope this is of some help :)
