    1. The squat is some magical exercise that by doing it willl lead to not only huge legs but cause the rest of your body to magically grow as well. The leg press is in no way a suitable replacement and your not training if your not doing squats

    Your legs represent about half of the average persons' body mass. In addition to the legs, squats strengthen the core muscles pretty good too - your abs, obliques and lower back are used to keep the bar in its' correct path.

    For this reason, whilst I agree that squats won't grow every part of your body, I don't agree that it's a myth that the leg press is in no way a suitable replacement.

    If you have some limitation that results in you being unable to squat, I suppose the leg press could be used but it wouldn't be a complete replacement - you'd need some other excercises to target the muscles missed by the leg press that are used in the squat.
