The old Rover V8 is an absolute beast to be fair.

Skip to one minute mark. No one injured. Actually surprised at how well the roof held up on the Herald.

Lucky we have yourself to point that out. Here was me thinking that preferring more than 100bhp per tonne made me a petrol head. Little did I know it was all about actually how quick you can burn petrol and get nowhere fast.

No mass produced and widely used car made in Europe can compare to those big American V8's.

American V8's in general yes but that Vicky in your Video sounds like sh1te!

Yes, it has some mods but you just can't make any European car sound this awesome.

Needs a resonator badly, drone in the cabin on constant throttle would get old very fast.

Not sure it would. Police interceptor ones don't have resonators at all, just silencers, no drone at all from them. Granted it'll be different when louder but I wouldn't be so sure the drone would be bad.

Sounds as loud as above mercury similar rumble and im guessing better soundproofing as its german, had to swap back to miltek after a week because i would either go deaf or neighbours would have stabbed me even driving it normally

It's all about SPG (Smiles per gallon) ... If you know what I mean ;)

On a motorway you are cruising in low revs mostly (in this thing anyway, they are built like this) so this shouldn't be a problem... anyway I think this kind of car is for those occasional spins, it's not like you are gonna drive it everyday. I drive na E30 that is quite loud and I love it everyday... nice rasp off the exhaust. It's a small engine so not too bad, but my other car has an Essex in it with aftermarket stainless steel exhausts so after driving it all day there is a chance that you get a headache... stil fun though...

I definitely agree with you there.

Where we disagree though is what makes us smile. Driving around in a two tonne pile of Yank tank has zero appeal for me. Give me a hot hatch that can take a turn at pace any day of the week. Infinitely more smiles for me from a good handling car than a loud obnoxious guzzler from across the pond

wow, some nostalgia... I remember back in 1995 (around that year) I downloaded this clip from the internet at my dad's work and brought it home on floppy disc(s). And the one that is at the end of this video too. ... couple of more as well. Back then internet was just text and links (maybe some small, basic pictures), it took ages to download and when I came home I couldn't play it because we had a 386 computer with Norton Commander on it. I still have those floppy discs but I doubt it is all on them after 20 years ... After seeing these few clips I instantly fell in love with american cars. That's where it all began.
