Feels weird but I wish the Pats won it. Would have been so fitting for Kraft. There's also something extremely unlikable about Eli.

That's shocking from giants, you gotta drill into their heads that he has to take a knee on the one there.

In hindsight though, you could never expect him not to take the game winning touchdown in the superbowl...

I was up for the Giants during it but in hindsight i feel really bad for Kraft and the whole Pats organisation as well as the fans. Would have been better if Baltimore took them down in hindsight. Now that i think of it too, i have family in Boston...:o

Parcells won his first Superbowl with the Giants after 4 seasons and repeated again in his 8th. Coughlin has just matched him tic for tac, with a championship in his own 4th and 8th season.

Meh, they were just in a time out and a coach has to go up and tell him. If he's simply to selfish that he has to get a touchdown then not much you can do about it. However if the Pats went down the field and scored he'd be toast.

I wouldnt call it selfish...but its the moment a player dreams about his entire life. He was so elated it only occured to him half a yard out when it was too late imo.

Thats a very interesting stat three posts up on TC and Parcells, the similarities are uncanny, even down to style and coaching personality

I was just thinking that. :D

Tonight was the first time I've properly sat down to watch a full Super Bowl. Never had much time for American Football, but that was some game.

    I think it's time to pick a team. :P

nfl.com will have am off-season package (cheap enough) where you will be able to watch any game from the past 3 years. If you havent been sucked into the giants after tonight (last night?), the I suggest you check out the Carolina Panthers.

If this had been my first year, I know I would have become a fan. Their new Quarterback is absolutely amazing. In the early part of the season he fluctuated between making totally awsome passes and total duffers. It was 100% entertainment. He is going ot be HUGE! . He cut down on the mistakes later in the season.

Had some great rushing and LEAPING touchdowns also. A joy to watch.

I think you could see Bradshaw caught between two minds...was he to go down or score the TD!

If he had lost you'd be right people would have been the scapegoat!

Can't wait to here his perspective on it, but even at that it may have changed considerably due to the outcome!

Eli's probably one of the most likable QBs in the league. His awkward demeanor only serves to enhance that image.

I got the impression he tried to make it look like he was stopping but let himself "fall" into the endzone. Maybe his momentum did carry him, its hard to say.

In any case, at least it was 6 definite points on the board rather than a possible (albeit probable) 3.

Alternatively, for a similar deal but maybe a bit less flash, go for the Broncos! Was the same deal us and carolina, except we had a knack with 4th quarter comeback wins like the Giants!

First time to post in this forum, I have been a Pats fan since 1986 so I’m long overdue a post or two. Great game tonight, but absolutely sickened with the loss. I just had a bad feeling in the bones after the initial safety followed by the 12 man penalty. After the Giants rode their luck on a couple of fumbles, I knew it was their night. A fully fit Gronkowski might not have missed a couple of key plays and Brady can hold his head up. Breaking more records with 16 SB completions in a row and beating Montana’s SB record.

Predictably, the Patriots defence came up short on the final Giants drive. Bradshaw was always going to pop up when we didn’t want him to. He probably never had an easier 6 yard gain. But then that comes as no surprise when you look at the Patriots defensive stats all season. Eli Manning proved himself in my eyes a long time ago. If no one believes he is an elite QB after this season, then they need their heads examined. So after being 7-7 at one point in the season, to this, I suppose it has to be a begrudging congrats to the Giants.

Jesus, local channels here would wreck ya, saying the Pats are the only dominant team in the AFC!

Notably the NFC has sent 8 different teams to the last nine Superbowls with the Giants the only ones to return. In the same time span the AFC has sent Indy twice(1-1), Pittsburgh three times(2-1) and the Pats four times(2-2). Of those three the Pats were the only one not to go below 10-6 in that spell. Maybe not the only dominant team in the AFC but the dominant one.

See what your saying, but it just seems like they were coming up with anything to make themselves feel better....which is understandable I suppose!

On a side note, the MVP was supposed to be on Jimmy Fallon, instead we got Osi, Tuck and some other DE who I can't think of his name but it's not showing in stats so must not have contributed much :P! Wonder if that's a case of Eli not wanting the attention!

Going over the game here....Moore really had a big game, couple that with getting them to the SB by stripping the game against the Ravens, I think he could develop into a really good DB!

    Utterly knackered!!!

Have to say fair play to BBC for their coverage last night, as an NFL n00b I don't think there's any way I would have lasted the distance if I was force fed advertisements every 5 minutes.

I think I may have to tune in for the new season, what's the best way to see the games other than ESPN? Does the NFL have it's own streaming service like MLB.tv?

Sobering up, NBC should be ashamed of themselves for showing Kraft. That should of been his private moment. After the year he has had and all.

Anybody see that harsh Brady article on Boston.com?

Basically saying he has reversed and called his performance hideous.

I'd also love to know what Tiki is thinking today. Moron.

    I BELIEVE IN ELI !!!!!
Great game, great finish, well exciting anyway. I watched the 1st half live and couldn't believe that the Pats went in leading by a point, after the Giants had played so well. But you can never write the Pats off and they came storming back, Brady was unreal in that 98yard drive. As reagrds the 2nd half, it looked like a case of alot of important drops (and not just Welker) versus a game winning catch, I bet Brady/BB are pissed !
I predicted a Giant win, based on the fact that they had a slightly better balanced team, and I think that was the difference.
I guess the difference between the 2 Manning brothers is that: Eli just does 'postseasons' ;)
I think it's: Eli: 7-3, Peyton 9-10 (hopefully those stats are correct :o)

I strongly, STRONGLY suggest you do. Come back here in September, maybe even follow the draft. You will not regret it. Got into it after Superbowl 42 between the very same two teams and never looked back. :D

well said and some college football too..its great for the foundation of where teams can go both from the draft and signing undrafted free agents ...you could for instance look at as an experiment where the two teams are at present and what they will do before next season as a start

stops us from going mad during close season

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but wouldn't that mean he'd have had to play in the NFL for at least 19 years?

Well, Manning has played in 19 post season games and won 9 so I think you just have the stats confused a bit is all, making him 9-10 in post season

I will say fair fooks to the Giants for getting it done that catch was unbelievable. Pats had their chances and p1ssed them away. But all those who said Giants early on in the week because of their front 4 got it wrong. And that our secondary would be the reason also got it wrong. In the end it came done who was going to make that special play and Mario Manningham take a bow you my son did just that. Fook my life.

im one of the people you are referring to so i will respond ...it is fair to say that both defenses approached things on preventing the huge play ....that is why up till 17-15 .....both defences allowed the small pass .

Both secondaries played like this and i remember in particular the Pats were playing off-man ...nearly never bumping at scrimmage and again allowing the small gain ...a containment strategy ...this meant neither secondary got to make huge differences ...you could argue that the Pats cover on passes was off but some of the throws were lasers and the catching top-notch...i wouldnt butcher the players for it ....the Giants secondary had a nice 4th quarter which affected the outcome and ultimately the pats secondary probably didnt have the ability to force a turnover which ultimately it needed....that bad secondary you speak in the Giants limited Brady to 86 yards with only 8 completions on the final 20 attempts

They continually swapped from zone to man and back to zone on practically every play and apart from a busted coverage (when the secondary call change didnt make it in time leaving Welker free ) on Welker ...the secondary performance was good

But to the front 4 ...Justin Tuck provided the quarterback hurry forced inthe intentional grounding and the 2-0 lead. Then, he put up three tackles, two more quarterback sacks, three quarterback hits
...Pierre Paul batted two passes and corralled Woodhead in the first half...all of this prevented a hot Pats start....there was 2 quarters where they didnt play that well but there was the big hit on brady by Tuck and PierrePaul was chasing Brady that resulted in the interception ....and there was pressure on Brady in the 4th quarter...that 17 point total for the Patriots is a season low total ...i dont think its credible to not link the front 4 giants to a season-low scoring performance for the Pats ....did the shoulder hit on Brady affect the Welker pass and others? certainly the passing was a little off

The Giants Front 4 wasnt the ultimate difference maker but it was a difference maker and outplayed their counterparts where Wilfork was successfully contained ...but there were others ....

the QBs were very close but ultimately Manning made the plays and the Brady interception made a difference as did the decision to intentionally ground losing 2 points

the Giants rushing helped cause a small advantage

Nicks and Manningham severely outplayed Welker and Co ...Branch and Welkers drops on the last two series and Hernandez killed a drive with a drop

I would say the Giants LB Corps also did reasonably well versus their opposing numbers...there was the interception ...a huge hit on Jarvis-green-Ellis....Ninkovich had some off-side penalties and Mayo & Spikes forced fumbles but didnt recover

it was a close game but ultimately all the small margins add up to the victory..it isnt as simple as drops on one side and catches on another

As a Pats fan, my heart hurts this morning, but as someone who watched their first Superbowl, I still feel a bit excited, despite the loss.

Just for the record, not a bandwagon jumper (as I'm sure I will be accused of it!) - le bf is a Pats fan for about 15 years or so, and he finally convinced me to watch some college football this year. I fell in love with the game, and when I watched Patriots play when the NFL lockout messiness ended, I fell in love with them too. I love what they stand for, I love how they conduct themselves, I love their team ethic, and I love that they never stop fighting.
Some will disagree with me, but that's fine - I'm happy with my choice of team (and not just because they are good). I still love them, even though they lost.

I fell in love with the game this year, and I know it's 7 months away, but I can't wait for next season already :D

Last night surely wrapped up the HOF for Coughlin and Eli i would imagine. TC at 65 is the oldest coach to win a SB.

went a long way from being released by the raiders as a walk on UDFA! I also appreciate that the Raiders, in keeping with their record of great personnel decisions for many years now, let him go in the first place!:D
