Probably see Daniel Bryan vs Big Show for the world title, maybe Cena vs Kane or Ryder v Swagger for US title.

    And Miz Vs R-Truth

Sheamus is still one of my favourites to win, though sticking him on the cover of Elimination Chamber has me a little iffy now. Besides him, only ones I can really think of are Wade, maybe Jericho or perhaps a surprise entrant/return.

slightly [but not really] off topic.....on the WWE Mobile Facebook page that I run we have been given a WWE Championship belt signed by John Cena, and an arseload of runners up prizes to do a royal rumble competition with. We have had 2 batches of numbers fill up - would people here be interested in it? if so I can open up a third set of numbers.......you just have to be on facebook!

I do believe I am number 14 in your 2nd pool of the above, thanks for running it

    Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

    – Matches booked but not yet announced for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view include John Cena vs. Kane and Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Title in a three-way. At one point, there was talk of doing Cody Rhodes vs. Dustin Rhodes.

    – After discussing Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble, WWE creative talked about having someone else win it this week. Chris Jericho is in the running to win the Rumble main event since he’s likely going to be challenging CM Punk for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 28.

FFS Randy Orton winning again no way please

Sheamus (SD!) or Jericho (RAW) should be top picks to win the Rumble, to face the respective champs at Mania (Henry, Punk). Weird to see Bryan as champion, it's a very "Summer" thing, not this close to Mania! I suppose Hardy got his first title run around this time (and lost at the Rumble...)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Think a Smackdown guy needs the rumble win it'd be easy to build Jericho vs Punk without Jericho winning the rumble for them to cross paths. Sheamus is my choice taking on Bryan or Christian at Mania*

    *Fantasy booking at its finest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I'd LOVE to see Bryan vs Sheamo at Mania - sure Rock/Cena's selling the show; and Bryan might actually leave Mania as champion, Sheamo's always getting outsmarted by Hornswoggle :) win/win for us.

Bryan/Christian would steal the show if they were allowed go full pelt  :o

I want Seamus to win but would love a genuine surprise entrant to come in and win (Orton returning wouldn't be shocking for me) I want shock  factor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 90,185 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

When is Christian suppose to be back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,478 ✭✭✭✭gnfnrhead

They gave Del Rio the win last year so I could see them giving it to Sheamus or Barrett (hopefully the former) this year as the show is going to sell itself with Cena vs Rock as the main event. I'd love Bryan to go in to mania as champion but don't see WWE being that adventurous. The title will be back on Henry, Show or Orton after Elimination Chamber at the latest.

The best ending to a Rumble ever, fantastic drama. And god yeah, the idea that that was five years ago is somewhat depressing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

I loved the finish to the the one Benoit won too. Guillotine to Big Show over the rope.
Now that is totally depressing to look back at.

I enjoyed 2007 in the WWE. It was very enjoyable to watch in the first couple of months especially. I seem to recall Michaels was in outstanding form around that time. Then I think he got injured a couple of months into it while he was continuing his feud with Cena. It was unfortunate timing.

One thing that struck me when listening to the podcast was how many of the rumble people are gone now.

Only 6 of the 30, at a push, could be considered still to be WWE wrestlers (Kane, Punk, Booker, Taker, Miz, Orton) and that's being generous; only 4 of them are full time roster members. That's an insane turnover for a five year period.

    List here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Rumble_%282007%29

Also then, of the ten wrestlers who wrestled on the undercard, only Cena is still with the WWE....

Very enjoyable podcast this week actually. Did they play my heart will go on at the end or was that an insane dream....

He was part of ECW for the most part, then when that slowed down he stuck around on superstars.
Dont think he was ever even close to a raw/sd angle.

Well...he did get the start of that big angle with Taker as Mordicai...it just never went anywhere and after weeks of hype videos, he disappeared...

Great rumble but I dont understand how they ever let Kane's elimination stand. Booker was already eliminated so how did it count when he put kane over the top rope?!?

Of course WWe are infamous for their logic (or lack of) when it suits them but it still bugs me 5 years later.

That's been happening since the very start. I think Hogan first did it in 89 when he got eliminated.

Bob Holly had a ****ty match with him likely on purpose on his PPV debut as Mordicai.

Happened in 2011 too when Miz (who wasn't even in the Rumble cause he was already WWE champ) eliminated Cena.

Happens often enough. It doesn't matter who eliminated you. If you go over the top rope and both feet hit the floor, you're eliminated. Worst one I saw was Maven eliminating Taker in the 2002 RR. Taker went back in and started fighting with Maven and eliminated him, then they fought throughout the arena.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,364 ✭✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Oh yeah. i remember that, i wouldnt put it beyond WWe to have Maven appear on the next RR as entranct 31 claiming he was never eliminated from 2002.

    Unless of course he's dead.

*goes off to wiki to check just in case*

A few months back I was watching a rumble the one Cena won iirc. Hornswoggle eliminated Miz even though the annoying midget wasn't in the match. Didn't Finlay get dq'd in one too.

Yeah, and if I'm right, the story goes that Taker basically then said there was no way he was going to feud with him, and that was that...

Can't even see the video, but I assume it's the Rumble Flair wins?

Heenan was amazing on commentary that night.

Easily the best Rumble match ever.

I got the loan of it years ago on VHS from a neighbour and the fecking thing broke my VCR. Took me a while to get a proper vcr again. So it soured me on the whole thing for a while, I WILL watch it on youtube when I get a chance. I bought a flair dvd a few months back thinking it was in it and all but it wasn't.

I know we're going OT, 1992 was an amazing Rumble, its in my top 3

    Royal Rumble 2002, 1992 and 2000.

If you listen to Aftermath you may have heard this idea for how the Royal Rumble should finish...

Following on from Jericho not talking or doing anything...

Entrants 28 and 29 are battling in the ring as the countdown starts for the 30th entry. During the countdown, 28 and 29 manage to eliminate each other. 30 is Jericho who walks into the ring and wins! Cue over the top celebrations etc.
Wins the rumble without doing anything.

Sets up Punk v Jericho for mania too.

    I think its perfect. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,491 ✭✭✭thebostoncrab

I talk about it tomorrow in my column, but I'm entertaining the idea of Jericho coming in at number 26 or 27, and spending the whole time outside high fiving fans. Then when the last two are trying to eliminate each other, he runs in and throws them both over the ropes. Then he finally speaks to us all the next night on Raw

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

So the Aftermath guys listen to Maria's Afterbuzz show lol
