Cant really argue with that, only one maybe, as a city fan id go lescott over kompany, kompanys form has been patchy all season but anyone who doesnt watch city regularly wont recognize this and people(inc city fans) love to dislike lescott even though he has been outstanding this season imo.

I dont think Romeu or Valencia have played near enough games to be considered.

Are you serious???? I don't bash lescott, I thinkhe does the job, but to say he is better than Kompany doesn't make any sense. Kompany has been a rock for City this season and last. Best CB in the premiership hands down atm.

No im not saying Lescott is better than kompany far from it, i think Kompany is one of the best in the league but his form at the start of the season was patchy and not as consistent as Lescotts and for that reason i would have him ahead of Vinny for team of half the season.

I dont need bias to know Silva should be in team of the year, same goes for RVP(and i dont like him at all,but im not going to say he doesnt deserve to be in team of the year). There maybe some doubts and discussion about other parts of the team but anyone who watches any decent amount of football this season will clearly see these two are head and shoulders above everyone else. I cant think of any reason why you wouldn't have him in your team.

It is too late for that, as his agent I need to inform you that he no longer wishes to play for you because of the lack of respect you have shown him.

If you would like to discuss this with him in person, he is currently at Music Festival keeping his fitness up by kicking signed footballs into the crowd.

Larsson is widely over-looked and has been my favourite player this season, and Vidic, despite only playing a handful of games, has been United's best player - so they get places out of immense bias.

I'm guessing Fantasy Football may be playing a little influence on some choices.

I'd have thought Reina would be better represented as I thought it is between him and Hart thus far in the season.

Could be that too, but I don't think he has bested Hart or Reina so far this season. Of course he has some very good saves, but look at the amount of shots that's fired at him. He got rave reviews for his performance at the start of the season at City. Still conceded 4 though. I thought Krul has performed better than Vorm. It is easier to cheer on the underdog, wheras the likes of Sczeney or De Gea are not considered at all because more is expected.

Reina has had a few shockers this season, cost Liverpool the game against Fulham, and at least one other game which escapes me right now. His best performances have actually come at CB.

Im a liverpool fan and i can say reina isnt having a season up to his expectations, hes not playing bad as such but hes not playing as good as he can. I cant fault hart but look at the defense in front of him? Krul and Vorn would be contenders for me for keeper of the season. But again Newcastle's defense would be better than swansea the pass kings defense. Its just a matter of opinion but some of the saves hes pulled off makes me swing towards him.

Or it might be because Vorm has kept 9 clean sheets this season and has been one of the best value for money signings of the season? The same amount of clean sheets as Hart and 1 more than Reina who has made quite a few mistakes this season.

Haha, True. But I'm saying you have to be a little objective. If Reina performed the same for Liverpool this season but was at one of the promoted teams he would be lauded up there. Just because they play for a big team shouldn't count against them is all I'm saying.

The original question was why Vorm over Hart in 90% of teams. 9 clean sheets each, Hart has conceded 16, Vorm has conceded 25. Hart has 63 saves, Vorm has 81. So Hart has a 74.6% shot stop ratio to Vorms 69.1%.

The question again, why is Vorm the concensus?

Vorm has 9 points more than Hart in the FPL and has been in the weekly dream team 4 times to Harts 1. Hence why I said I think FPL has a bearing on the decision because in that Vorm is better. In real life, it is the other way round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,755 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Krul>vorm this season imo. Vorm looks better than he is because the defense in front of him is worse than Newcastle's in all but that game they were missing Collocini a few weeks ago and he has to make a lot more saves. Also his astounding record with penalties. Krul has shown great concentration at times and wouldn't look out of place at a top team which I fear Vorm might...

Thank you. The defence should have no bearing on how good the keeper is. Because you have a better defence doesn't make you a poorer keeper.

Newcastle' Ryan Taylor deserves a mention too. Hes been very good for them this year, both in defence and attack

Yes, I'd agree with you. There have been better keepers in the league than Vorm but Vorm stands out due to impressing with a newly promoted side.

It's like last season, Scott Parker and Charlie Adam were nominated for PFA player of the year because they played out of their skin for weaker sides, not because they were the best midfielders in the league. An underperforming Cesc Fabregas was still a far superior player in the league than those two last season yet he wasn't up for nomination.

Same with Ba in this thread. IMO Aguero and Rooney have been superior players this season yet Ba has stood out due to doing more than what was expected of him in a weaker side, so people put him in their team instead.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,296 ✭✭✭EdenHazard

i agree with you, but your point about ba doesn't make sense, he's a striker whose job it is to score goals, and hes the second goalscorer in the league so he is the second best striker in the league, the fact he is scoring with newcastle makes it even better.

Yes, this makes sense as a reason. But Ba is up there for a reason but he still is nowhere near the concensus like Vorm is. And the defence of the selection is that he has been the best performer, which is not true. Especially when (I'm guessing here) the majority who have chosen him have watched very few Swansea games. Their decision IMO is made up then of some highlights or his FF performance.

If the argument was made like you have made it, at least that's a logical debate.

    Vorm

    Walker --- Aggger --- Kompany --- Enrique
Silva ---Touré --- Modric --- Bale
    Ba --- RvP

Not exactly the formation I'd line out with but those have been the best XI players in those parts of the field imo.

Honourable mentions to Sturridge, Mata, Kaboul, Skittles, Parker, Aguerro, BAE, Richards, Coloccini, Dempsey and Cabaye.

Silva POTY so far, followed by Touré and Bale.
