Maintaining Weight Questions

    Hi :)

I've just recently lost 2st exactly, I'm now at a healthy weight and I'm very happy. I don't want to lose any more weight but I definitely don't want to gain back anything and ruin all of my hard work of the past 6 months.

I eat healthily and I know what is good for my body but one of my questions is, should I still be planning meals, counting calories to make sure I don't go above my daily calorie needs? I've worked out that I need approximatey 1950 calories per day (on the days where I'm not exercising).

Has anyone here got any advice for me on whether I should still be watching my calories, planning meals, etc. It's been a while since I've eaten a 'maintanence' amount of calories so I don't really know how to go about it and I REALLY don't want to slip back into my old habits of snacking and grazing througout the day.

I find myself constantly thinking about my next meal and how many calories will be in it and how many calories I'll have left for the day and I wish I wasnt thinking about this so often!

Has anyone who has lost weight and is now maintaining their weight successfully have any advice?

Thanks a mil, help would be greatly appreciated!!

    :)

You could consider forgetting about counting calories and, instead, selecting a weight-range for yourself. For example, if you're currently 11 stone, you could select a range of 11 stone - 11 stone 5 lbs.

Then, weigh yourself once every fortnight (say on a saturday morning before eating or drinking anything and wearing the same amount of clothing). When you go over the higher end of your range, start counting calories again to get back down.

This might be of some help to you- see the Related Content on the right also.

I would highly recommend continuing to track your food as it is so easy to go above your calories otherwise.
A healthy diet is for life, not just for weight loss :)
