Girls wearing silly amounts of clothing

It was cold today. I'm sure most people will agree, there was a significant nip in the air, to speak. So of course, the logical thing to do would be of course, to bundle up, wear a nice jacket or something. I myself wore a jacket, and scarf on my way to work.

Now the point of this whole thing wasn't to point out how cold it was, since chances are you'll have noticed yourself. It was to ask this question, why do girls wear small amounts of clothing, even when its cold? I saw it last winter when it was bloody snowing, same now. You'll most of the chaps, wearing fleeces and coats, scarfs. And girls standing round wearing those silly small shorts, tank tops, etc. And some of them complain about the weather. And there was quite a few of them. In fact, most of the ladies I saw today were wearing clothing not suited to the weather, in my opinion.

    Makes no sense, does it?

They can wear whatever they want of course. This is democracy and all that. But its cold. I don't see why you'd want to something thats obviously not going to protect you against the cold very much.

In this kind of unseasonably mild weather, I wouldn't notice, but I remember two of the really freeeeeezing nights last winter and the winter before, there were girls wearing short sleeveless dresses, no tights, no jacket... I was just baffled by how they could put themselves through such discomfort. The cold was so severe it actually hurt. Nothing to do with getting old etc - just bewilderment.

Honestly you have a point! I am 21 and whilst on a night out I do like to dress up in short skirts and dresses I do have the knowledge to wear tights if it is cold and a coat. Also I think those girls who go out in the day wearing half nothing and its WINTER are nothing but attention seeking ow self esteem idiots gaining the attention of everyone, and by giving it your giving them the satisfaction wether its negative or positive.

I dont think you are being 'an old man' for pointing this out your right about it

SERIOUSLY GIRLS QUIT BEING ATTENTION SEEKING WE DON'T THINK YOU LOOK 'HOT' YOU LOOK RIDICULOUS!!!

    rant over ha

Are we talking about on a night out or just going about your day to day business?

I brave the cold on a night out during the winter with a dress on.
Tight less too!!! the horror  hahaha!

But if they want to wear clothes like that so what about it.

Their not asking you to wear them, and what age were these girls?
I'm guessing teens, if so we've all done it at that age.

Jackets arent cool when your a teenage girl hahaha!!

Stockings and suspenders and just a coat add to the atmosphere too

Because they think it's the only way they'll "get the shift".

Seriously though, it's ridiculous. I'm always saying it. It's even too cold in the summer in Ireland to wear hotpants without tights on nights out.

The funny thing is in hot countries like Spain/France girls cover up wayyy more when the are out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭saa

It doesn't bother me what someone else wears.
It seems like its either oh women trying so hard to be sexy just give it up you attention seeking slut or ah women ya lazy bunch of fatso's in your comfortable clothing you'd think they'd at least make an effort.
    Jeeeeze.

I think lads wearing those skinny foolish looking scarves is a worse problem.. you know the thin piece of wool wrapped around the adam's apple. Sure what's the point? Fashionty muppety hipsters

Women have more fat in their bodies and some have way too much but prehaps this is the reason they can brave the cold? Also maybe they like saying 'Jaysus its freezing' .

I love the ones that wear a scarf and hat but yet they wear skirts ......

Thing is, they've got all this fashionable shite and they're going to wear it whether or not it's the weather for it.

it's become expected in this country, and if you're not showing skin you don't get attention. so that also comes into it.

Hoorah for scantily clad young women.

We all now that dressing in this fashion is impractical given the current climactic conditions but who cares.

They have the right to wear what they want, just as I have the right to express bafflement at how they put themselves through the torture of being that exposed in temperatures that are even uncomfortable when you're wrapped up.
Nope, I wasn't so preoccupied with cock-teasing/being "cool" as a teenager that I'd brave the above.
It's not the clothing - if you've the body, flaunt it - it's the clothing in sub freezing temperatures. Nothing wrong with being nearly naked in it, but nothing wrong with being perplexed at someone putting themselves through that much discomfort either. If it was any context other than being sexy, they'd be called stupid bitches and so on.

    Definitely...
Worked there for a week and a typical Irish girls outfit would cover half a dozen girls in Newcastle.. They seem to protect themselves from the cold by consuming large volumes of alcohol.... not a mix that leaves much unseen

In a way I get it though although I never did it when I lived there. It's hard to find the weather in Ireland to be sexy and show your bod, particularly as a young wan. It's rains most of the year and there's a rarely a month when you can head out without some kind of coat. And not even a coat....you need layers. I remember the coat, the cadrigan underneath...perhaps even a jumper, the scarf, the gloves just to get from A to B....here in Spain they don't need all that heading out, even in the Winter. If you're young and "on the pull", you want to feel sexy and these layers never made me feel that way.

As I said, wouldn't do it myself but I suppose I get it.

When I was a teenager, I remember coming into the kitchen one day after Dad had taken the laundry in from the washing line. He gawked at something for a good ten minutes before finally folding it and packing it away with the teatowels -it was my skirt :o
