Polar Watch Battery

Would any one know where I can go to replace the battery in my Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor Watch?

I'd be lost without it and I've contacted Polar directly but they want me to send it off to England as it's their only registered factory and it'll take around 4 weeks for it to come back.

Surely there must be a place in Dublin that can replace the battery, it doesn't need to be 100% waterproof as I don't swim?

I heard the same rubbish about bringing it back to shop, i have an ft4, took battery to local chemist what a surprise, battery replaced 1.99, works perfect, don't need the waterproofing.

What type of battery did you need in the end? I haven't opened the back up yet just in case.

Does the back come off handy enough? €2 shops usually have 32 watch type batteries for €2, (yes for the full 32 batteries), and have several sizes, usually you will find one which can fit.

Another tip if you know what you are at, is if you find a thinner battery you can use tinfoil to bulk up the missing room. You must match voltage too.

A watch battery is just like regular AA, it has 2 ends +&-, but with a watch battery they are close together. So if doing the tinfoil trick you go with the thick end, so you do not risk short circuiting the 2 ends.

so the tinfoil should be on the side with the writing below.

I've never taken the back off but will have a quick look now.

There's a shop around the corner that has all those batteries so cheers for the heads up. Why do they say I've to send it off to the UK when I can just do it myself??

Thanks for the advice. Must be just a money racket about sending the watch off:)

They won't honour the watch guarantee if they don't replace the battery and water gets into it. If you're going to be out in rain, swimming etc get it done properly

The guarantee is well out. I've had this watch 3 years now and it's only dying on me now. Great watch but I only using it for working out not for swimming or in the shower..

    Hi Guys,
I was reading the thread with some interest and had to subscribe to post a reply as I know a bit about this battery changing business.
The reason that you have to pay more to send it back to the manufacturer in order to get the battery replaced is that they will also replace the seal and test the watch for water tightness. If you are not going to go swimming, take a shower or do violent washing up while wearing your watch you may as well replace the battery yourself and save yourself a shed load of cash.
I don't want to be regarded as spamming as this is my first post, but I wrote something on a site which details how they test the watch after fitting the battery. This will give you an idea of why it costs more to send it away and get it tested.
You can find information on a help page on the site that appears first in google when you search for watch batteries (after the sponsored links) and go to the Help and FAQ page. It's the same site that appears if you search for
how to change a watch battery in your watch
    on Google.
Hope that is of some help.
    AJ

Hi on an ft4 it's a cr1632 on the watch and cr3022 or cr3025 on the strap.
As an aside I get my g-shock watch replaced with waterproofing by a place on abbey st beside the academy, timepiece I think is the name, it's in with snakebite tatto studio, maybe they could look at the waterproofing on the polar.(no association this place mods)

I've an F11 and I send it back, if the o-ring isn't re-set moisture (even from perspiration) will mess it up - sure its annoying they don't have a local service point... but the UK turn around isn't too long...

Thankfully they have started introducing user accessible batteries in their later ranges...
