Does anyone know If I have a chance of being accepted on this course with 1st class honours in psychology? It's got a fair element of statistics but it's more applied than theoretical.

Usually, there's no problem getting a place on a higher diploma course if you haven't previously studied the subject as they are generally used as conversion courses. I'm not 100% sure if it's the same with the H.Dip in Maths Studies though. You should email the department secretary/H.Dip co-ordinator and ask, as they will know for definite.

You need to have done a certain amount of Maths, think its 30 ects worth but there's also some stipulations on what kind of courses. If you know how many credits for different courses you've done, have a look here http://www.maths.nuim.ie/pgprogrammes#HDMS
Hopefully will give you an idea. Go down to the diploma section.
