.....to stay in school, get good results in the Leaving Cert.
Go to College / UNI and get yourself a degree and then you can earn thegood monies.

Well in this day & age I must say I think this is boll!x now.
    Thanks Parents !!!!! humph.

Here's what I'll be telling my kids :

    1) Leave school at 14 / 15
    2) Start Claiming Dole as soon as you hit 18
    3) Get a foot in the door in either politics or the public sector or work in a bank, that's where all the money is. Everyone with their degree is sitting at home twiddling their thumbs earning less than bus drivers.

If they can't get into the public sector or politics or a bank then just stay on the dole, it's not worth it.

So what will you be telling your kids if you want them to make the monies ?

*Note - People that dropped out of school early :

    Bill Gates
    Richard Branson
many more, can't think of them right now.

I completed a four year degree before joining the public sector and it has been a great benefit to my work, my pay and my promotion chances.

Son, you need to accept not everything in life will just be handed to you. Your parents tried their best in giving you advice and supporting you. It's not fair to blame them because it all hasn't panned out according to plan. Stop your whining. Stop it. Stop. Stop your whining. You're acting like a child. Stop that. Stop. Do not procreate, you don't know what you're doing and stop whinging.

Yeah, i love seeing people listing off names and failing to appreciate that those folk had idea's and the drive to see them through.

I'm being generous referring two names as a list, i know.

Bill Gates didn't leave school early, he went to Harvard. So not a drop out. Plus he had well off parents which helps a bit.

Lol, Bill Gates left Harvard early, after getting a score of 1590 in the SATs (about 590 in Leaving Cert terms), to form a business. Not exactly dropping out to go on the dole.

Ummm, I don't think that dropping out of school and spending years on the dole is very conducive to getting a job in the public sector/politics/financial sector.
They tend to like people with education and experience.

They have more spending money than ppl that work so hell ye.
    Message to Kids.

Look at person A who works hard & pays for everything and is miserable
    now
Look at person B who gets everything handed to them

hmmmmm - I wonder which one I'll choose.
    hmmmm

this is basically the USA, the middle class pays for EVERYTHING.

So if you're not born into upperclass you should look at downgrading to lower class.

Don't try and make something of yourself, you'll just get walked all over.

I will be telling mine if and when the time comes...Try and get the most out of your school and education days. You don't want to be going back to adult education when you can put in the effort and time now. Learn to read and write well and to spell very well especially. Nothing as bad as silly spelling mistakes. Having the leaving cert is a big bonus as most jobs require you to have it. Decide firmly on what you would like to work at and earn a living on and if you can afford it go to a college to get you closer to that good earning job in what you'd love to be doing. If you don't go to college then courses or work experience in the field you want. At the moment jobs are scarce but atleast with the leaving cert under ur belt and work experience in the jobs ur hoping for u'll have a far better chance than anyone who hasn't these and of eventually getting the right job for you.

tbh I think you're being a tad unfair there since you don't know my up bringing or how hard I work. I don't expect to be handed anything, that's the problem here.

I've worked hard for everything I own while I watch other people getting handed stuff like property and money for free.

that's why I'm so annoyed here.

I think it's sad what the Irish we have done to ourselves and we are to blame.
