    Ok quick one here guys,

Just looking for clarification on something. I'm on a new years health kick (8lbs down since New years!) but I've come across something I just need to check.

I've downloaded the MyFitnessPal app and put in all my details and has told me that to lose approx 2 lbs a week at my weight and height (288lbs/6ft4), my daily calorie goal is 1990.

Thing is, its not too hard for me to come in a fair bit underneath that. I'm at about 1500 calories today after 3 meals. I wouldn't mind so much but the app keeps telling me I'm starving myself and to eat more or I'll go into starvation mode.

My question is if I'm happy to eat at 1500, should I stay at it, or should I be aiming for the 1990 my app is telling me to go for? I am trying to lose about 6 stone but if its putting me in starvation mode, maybe I should be trying to eat more?

You are obviously well able to eat above and beyond 1990 calories if you are currently over weight.

If your not hungry after 1500 then stick to that but you may find yourself being more tired etc.

However I would encourage you to read the sticky's and work out from there how many calories you should be eating.

Oh I know :o I could easily put away 2000 calories 3 times a day if I wanted. But thats because I'm genuinely going for the worst of the worst food. I'm trying to go as healthy as possible and finding that its not that hard to get full on it.

What does a typical day look like?

Protein inriched foods should keep you feeling fuller for longer.

    Since new years?

    Breakfast:
Oats with skimmed milk and tablespoon of jam

    Lunch:
    Soup + chichen fillet

    Dinner:
Meat + 2 veg (MUCH smaller portion than before)

and thats it. only today the dinner and lunch swapped places (early sunday dinner)

EDIT: Just looked at the daily calorie calculator post by g'em and my target for losing weight is over 3000 calories????

I'm a big believer in adjusting to suit yourself. If you can eat 1500 cals and not feel hungry, then it's very likely that 1500 is a reasonable level for you. If you were digging ditches all day long, then you'd be starving on 1500 cals a day.

Don't forcefeed yourself. In spite of what some people claim, under-eating for a few days doesn't stop your body burning fat, and eating when you are not hungry is generally a good way to gain weight.
