Hi there, I got a new Samsung galaxy s2 for Christmas!! I have to say I am loving it but I am finding batt life to be very poor! I expected it wouldnt be great... However some people have told me about applications running in the back ground and that they could be causing thr problem... I haent a clue about this? How do I close them down or stop them from running if they are.not needed???

    Thanks!!!!!:-)

Thnks!! I just did the RAM thing there and it said it closed 22 applications and did it less than a minute later again.and it closed 14?? Like how are these applications opening when im not touching the phone?? There has to be a way of stopping them??

how long are you getting out of the battery?

android will run processes in the background, there's no need to worry about that. when leaving an application try pressing the back key rather than the home key, that is supposed to shut the app rather than leave it running in the background

I find if you switch off the 3G connection (long hold the lock button, it'll give you a menu), the battery depletion is greatly reduced. You can switch it on then as required, and switch off again when finished:D

Also get juice defender. It will turn off your 3g and wifi when you put your phone to sleep. It will put them on again for a few seconds at intervals to check email etc. Essential app I think for S2

Depending on how comfortable you are with the phone, you can put a custom rom on it. Some of them are excellent at increasing battery life. Just check the Galaxy S2 modding thread if you need help, or drop me a PM.

    Does that void the warranty.

Turn down the screen brightness, turn off WiFi, BT, Vibration if you dont need them.

Dont expect it to last more than a day really. If it barely lasts you a day your a very heavy user :D

Download better battery stats to see what's using your battery.

Closing items out of Ram is pointless, when they are not in use they sit there not using battery, ready to resume when you reopen the app. Closing app will use more power by having to reopen it again.

I found the biggest battery drainers were the pre-installed bloatware, gaming hub, social hub, music hub etc as they checked for updates and connected over 3g every 30 - 60 mins, I didn't use them, couldn't uninstall them, and yet there they were constantly connecting and draining battery. That was the main reason I rooted to remove that crap. Battery improved dramatically after that!
