Booked NYC back in mid-November for February 2nd - February 7th, and the two tickets came out at €899.28 all-in.

Same two tickets now are €1029.04 in their "sale".

    Love that! :D

Someone on politics.ie was saying that they checked everyday for the €219 NY fare and there was none there at all!

Do you mean 2 return tickets i.e. circa €225 each way per person?

I got Dublin - Düsseldorf return for €82 /w fees. Happy enough with that.

    Thanks for the link.

Yep, 2 return tickets. It was €350 per person for each return flight.. then taxes/charges etc on top.

Hmmm... doesn't seem too hard, as long as you are very flexible with dates. Depart Mar 20, return Mar 27, €437.02. It is €219 each-way... which I think means one-way price but you have to book a return, so double that is the best you can get? Is that a correct interpretation of each-way?

The €219 offer excludes taxes i think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,073 ✭✭✭✭cena

I checked on sat for nyc to go on the 22nd or so. going for 3weeks and it came just under 1000euro for two return. Not sure it thats good. no sign of the 219 flights at all. They had then last yr too and no sign og the 219 flights

Is that all in or just the 'fare' before taxes and charges. I looked up a few dates and the cheapest one way 'fare' I saw was €195+ taxes and charges.

That 437 was the total (at least that's what is claimed). Just did it again for Mar 20-27.
    From Dublin to New York
    Fare 113.50
    Taxes and Charges 127.74
    Flight Total 241.24
    From New York to Dublin
    Fare 113.50
    Taxes and Charges 82.28
    Flight Total 195.78
    Total Price: EUR 437.02

Because I'm interpreting 219 as one-way... I see less than 438 for the return as good. These are of course mid-week trips. Also I am of course being selective with days. If you have little choice as to when you can travel you'll probably pay close to 600.

    Ix.

I got some good prices yesterday to Faro around Easter. Lots of dates with good prices and cheaper than Ryanair which is unusual.

That feckin Ryanair security thingy to stop the automated sites from using it is a complete head wrecker

I hate when they say "New York for €219!!!!" or even more misleading "New York both ways for €219!!"

I know now, but before I bought tickets to New York I thought the trip worked out at €219 in total. ie €109.50 to get their and €109.50 to get back. I was even more mislead when they said €219 both ways. ie from their point of view it costs €219 to get there and €219 to get back. But 90%+ of people who see that sentence first time will think it is what is says, €219 in total for the trip.

    Deceitful punks.

I don't think prices could ever be that low. 219 is unbelievably cheap for a transatlatic flight. People must know that there is no way they could be offering flights for 219 return. 350+ is more reasonable.

I doubt it. Like it clearly says on their website €219 each way, which is in block letters as well, so you've no excuse...

And the other 10% are only going one way thanks to the Country being driven in to the ground thanks to Fianna Fail so €219 isn't misleading to them.

81.98 for a Weekend return to Cork from Amsterdam for 1 person.

    Not bad I guess.

Still can't compete with Ryanair though, we pay that for 2 people going from Eindhoven - Dublin, then another 50-60 euros on car rental.

Bought Dublin - Manchester return for 67 euro return.

Not much of a sale as ryanair were 40 euro in total, but its worth the extra money not to have to deal with them.

Gotta also love Aer lingus's new "total price" system which includes "taxes an charges" and then they add a 6 euro handling fee each way!!

    Great Sale……………

I want to book a weekend (any weekend) in London for March. Out Friday evening back Sunday evening for two people.

The first I noticed was this new banner,
New all prices below include taxes and charges.
    Than on the next page
    Handling charge €24.

    Aer Lingus best €170 aprox
    Ryanair €102 aprox

That is roughly 66% more expensive.

Where do they get off? This should be in the Rip Off Ireland section.

Planning a trip to New York late May. At the moment Aer Lingus come in cheapest at just over 600 all in. Anyone reckon there's a chance prices will go lower than that? I'm thinking not since New York would start getting popular around May. When do Aer Lingus have their "sale" for flights in April/May?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,836 ✭✭✭mp3ireland2

Is there a way of avoiding the Aer Lingus €6 charge? Like mywirecard (or any other prepaid master card) for Ryan air?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 Tommy_Vercetti

Tried to book flights to Paris on Tuesday night and girlfriends card was declined as it was Mastercard Debit which it did not accept. Could'nt use my own card until today due to the limit, went to book flights and they had gone up €180, from €569 to €749, normally on the last day of a sale you have further reductions, not in Ireland though, shower of c****!

It's not Penneys though, it's an airline. Nothing Irish about it, airline ticket sales the world over employ a fairly byzantine system of dynamic pricing to maximise yield and avoid flying with no bums on seats.

I flew return Shannon - Chicago with Aer Lingus a few years ago for a total of €206 return, inclusive of taxes and charges. It was one of the best flights I've ever taken too as the flight over was only 1/3 full and the flight back 1/2 full so I had no-one sitting next to me on either flight. Also series one of Mad Men, which I had never got into, was on the inflight entertainment system so I was kept well entertained.

Sale ?? Yeah right!! I've been looking at a certain flight and it's been up and down for a few weeks. On Saturday I checked and it was 490 ( 2 adults 1child) but didn't book as I was waiting for such a sale which started today, flights are now 570 in the sale. Bad form in my opinion.

Booked a flight to New York today for 510. Was 650 three weeks ago and 600 last week - so there are some good deals to be had.
