Every wildcard weekend produces a classic. After 3 poor to middling games we got one...and how.

I knew we were going to do well tonight, even Carter was playing well.
Ironic has been re-defined: Tebow wins in OT with a PASS on 1st & 10 with 80yds to go with a TD against the No. 1 passing D :pac:

    80 yard game winning TD?

A TD that Thomas deserves all the credit for! The throw was a pretty standard one, especially if he's to be considered an NFL QB! He showed great speed and strength, but why Taylor was on him I'll never know, he was having a terrible night, it was obvious the Steelers missed Ryan Clark tonight, shame he had to sit out, but it's only a game so no point risking your health, Tomlin made the right call there!
Played an excellent game of football, against a very experienced team, against the best D this year, particularly passing, and executed an unbelievable play in OT !!
Tebow had the most passing yards against them this year.

You really love the fact the Steelers were number one in passing allowed yards,of all Tebows yards 219 came from 4 passes, not going to go to effort of working out the YAC but I'm sure it'd be over a hundred! The rushing game was very poor tonight, and they were lucky that he actually completed passes tonight, but in the 4th he was back to throwing to high or into the ground! The D was good, as it has been all year, Miller is a beast, did well to make the Steelers settle for FG's! Can't afford to only show for a quarter next week!

See above for the OT play!

    From Twitter -

Women in Denver are not happy - Tebow wont **** any of them, and now a pissed off Ben Roethisberger is real drunk in their city

These QBs have mad fashion sense, I'm watching NFL Network and Tebow was dressed like Eminem and Big Ben looks like he's turned up to the post-game interview in his Don Draper costume, Fedora and all!

Give him a break. It's our first playoff win in 6 years and it matches the total number of Broncos postseason wins since Elway retired. I'll take all the YAC, secondary blunders by the Steelers and below 50% completions for playoff wins any ****ing day. fwiw Thomas's TD was a great play more so than a badly blown coverage and its their fault they only sat the one man deep.

And yeah, no way Clark could have played, way too dangerous to exert yourself at altitude with sickle cell, it would have been shocking if Tomlin allowed it, even though his presence would have changed an awful lot

Just think Thomas should be getting way more credit...monster game for him...especially as a receiver in Denver! Think it was last week Decker said it's very hard to keep concentrated/running routes when you know your not getting the ball!

Don't forget you had wrote your own team off in the 3rd Quarter! ;)

Thomas was/is ****ing awesome, such a game against that Defence. TERRIFIC. Spare a thought for Eric Decker though, he was seriously injured by Harrison on that play he went down, knee ligament tear per John Fox.

    yeah i did, true...but i am a miserable bastard, as i pointed out earlier!:pac:

So, after that unbelievable game earlier, now we have:

    Saturday, Jan. 14
NFC: New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers, 4:30 p.m, ET (FOX)
AFC: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots, 8 p.m. ET (CBS)

    Sunday, Jan. 15
AFC: Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
NFC: New York Giants at Green Bay Packers, 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

What do we all think of the above? Will there be another big shock during this round of games?

I'm really sticking my neck on the line here and going Saints, Patriots, Ravens and Packers :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,173 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Tackle was terrible IMO...hate the fact you go near a QB's legs and it's a personal foul yet Harrison can do that...just pure reckless!

I think the Giants will beat the Packers

Don't ask me why, I just see it happening

As i said way earlier in this thread, i dont think the Niners will be able to keep up with the Saints if Brees and co. score 24+ points, which they probably will

AFC: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots, 8 p.m. ET (CBS)
Brady has too much firepower. Heroic defeat i think, sadly, but it's been a hell of a year.

    Sunday, Jan. 15
AFC: Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
Baltimore are my pick for the AFC outright, they'll shut down the Houston run game and make Yates beat them in the air, bit too big of an ask with that pass rush and Reed in the defensive backfield

NFC: New York Giants at Green Bay Packers, 4:30 p.m. ET (FOX)
The upset. Ima quote Skip Bayless on this one: "Shades of '07. Giants played NE close last game, beat 'em in SBowl. This time Giants play Packers close late in season, catch fire and ..."

What do we all think of the above? Will there be another big shock during this round of games?

I'm really sticking my neck on the line here and going Saints, Patriots, Ravens and Packers :P

Call it a gut feeling. Giants are some team when they get a head of steam, especially in the playoffs. They also gave the Pack hell in the regular season match, and are a good road team(won in lambeau in the freezing cold in 07), which should counteract the homefield advantage.

Gonna predict the whole playoffs here:

Wildcard: Saints win vs Lions, Giants win vs Falcons, Texans win vs Bengals and Steelers win @ Broncos.

Divisional: Saints win @ 49ers, Giants win @ Packers, Steelers win @ Patriots and Ravens win vs Texans.

Championship: Saints win vs Giants and Ravens win vs Steelers.

    Super Bowl: Saints win.

Got 3 of 4 Wildcard games, only missed on the Broncos.

    Gonna revise my predictions accordingly:

Divisional: Saints @ 49ers, Giants @ Packers, Texans @ Ravens, Broncos @ Patriots.

Championship: Giants @ Saints, Ravens @ Patriots

    Super Bowl: Saints vs Ravens

NFC stays the same, going to go against the Broncos for the 2nd week in a row. Still Fancy Ravens to make the Super Bowl even having to go Gillette.

I think last night showed why id take Ed Reed (even one that can't tackle) over Troy Polamalu as my safety, he consistently got beat on the big plays being caught in the head lights, it gets to the point where id only ever want to see him blitzing since he's that damn awful in man coverage these days.

Congrats to Denver a great team performance, Thomas really just d*cked with the Steeler secondary (No surprise that they can't handle speed just ask the Ravens).

Battle of the game faces next week.

very surprised that people think big blue are the best chance of the weekend for an upset.

sure in week 13 it was close, but that was at the metlife.

I think rodgers will shred this NY defense the way he has done to most defences this year and they will win very comfortably, but the key for me is home field advantage.

Just like we saw with the broncos yesterday and the texans on saturday (did anyone see Dalton screaming at his lb's with the play?), its has a big part to play.

agree with the above, i think the pack should win handy enough, reasons being, the falcons were muck yesterday, matty ice sat in the pocket when the pressure came, whereas rodgers will extend the play with his legs, jennings and starks should be back, eli hasn't faced ballhawks like woodson and williams since we last played them in metlife and won, bj and clay are due big games and aj hawk is improving since his injury, and plus jennings tweeted that revenge is on there mind for 2007 and so far in the play offs, all home teams have won. also i just had a look at the giants schedule of there great run,
week 12 hockeyed by the siants
week 13 beat at home by green bay
week 14 won at the cowboys
week 15 lost at metlife to the redskins
week 16 won agiants the jets
week 17 won agiants the cowboys at metlife.
now in all fairness thats nothing to write home about

Shows how little you know about the game kmart

The reason that Tebow was successful with the deep throws was that the Steelers had no choice but to respect the read-option running game by packing the line of scimmage to stop it, leaving the CB's in one-on-one coverage with the WR's. Once the WR got a step on the CB and Tebow delivered the ball, the plays were always going to go for big yardage. If the Steelers had kept the safeties back to help the CB's then the Broncos would have just pounded the ball up the middle and eaten up all the clock.

This is the Broncos offence with Tebow at QB simple and easy to run and, when executed properly, very hard to stop.

Yesterday was obviously a great performance (and many of his incompletions were very catchable), great passing and I liked the way he ran, he didn't force runs but ran when there was space. However the case isn't closed yet.

3-1 for Wildcard Weekend with Tebow being my undoing to a perfect Weekend. As for Tebow... Haters are always going to hate but give this guy Respect 316 passing yards against the NFL's number 1 defence! Roll on next week:D
