Did a search but threads on these seem to be about wherre to get them and cheaply.

What I'd like to know is what's peoples thoughts on these, physio suggested I use one on my leg muscle to reduce the tension in them, thinks this is what's causing my knee problems.

All I know is it hurts like hell on one leg but fine on the other non problem one :)
Have only being doing it for a couple of days so haven't noticed to much difference as yet, do people think they actually work / work well / sometimes do etc?

they work really well but you have to do it properly. Its very easy to roll up and down the itb, keeping it tense, and getting no benefit. You have to do it slowly and be sure that youre pausing and relaxing the muscles at each stage.

When I did this, noticed a big improvement in my knee pain, which has never totally gone away, but regular foam rolling keeps me running and cycling. You could consider the grid as well which is an improvement on the foam roller

I've had one for 6+ months, absolutely love it, use it everyday. I'd recommend everybody use one :)

It would be quite sore/tender when I first started rolling on my IT Band area (wasn't injured though), but went away after a while.

Think I'm using a grid one too, has little puckers on it. I originally had a small white one which eventually went out of shape, got the grid one and it was well worth the extra money.

I also use a tennis ball to roll my shoulders on, find it far more effective than the grid

I think they work great. My legs feel noticeably "looser" after using it. The ITB is difficult to stretch without something like a foam roller. Even one or two sessions on a sore ITB sorts out my sore knee. I tend to only use it when I start to feel some soreness in the knee but I should probably use it all the time.

pricier, but it is better, and will last.

use a hockey ball to work the glutes and other hard to reach spots
