I've managed to make a tasty sum doing what I do best, exposing scum. It'll take you a few years, but in the end it's worth it, I've woken up thousands whilst making a living at the same time.

I make a small bit of money from YouTube, nothing significant but free money all the same I guess.. You can also get rid of stuff around the house on eBay, Done Deal, etc. Try online poker/Paddy Power, etc but unless you know what you're doing that will only end badly.

I wouldn't bother with trying to do Poker online. It's a zero-sum game at best, and that's before the company rakes the table - and that's assuming everyone's playing fair.

A couple of years ago I looked at Lionbridge, who do what they call crowdsourcing, but they can be very specialist in their requirements, usually requiring multiple languages. I can't see any open positions in Ireland at the moment.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Just random videos I take day to day, mostly of rare/performance cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.) and concerts. Some of my videos have 100,000+ views, my channel has just under 1 million. YouTube pay me a small amount to allow ads before my videos and as far as I know the more views you have, the more money they pay.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 700 ✭✭✭nommm

buying things when you find them slightly cheaper on one site and then selling them on ebay at normal price. made a few hundred.

The amount youtube pays is based on the "advertiser".

Someone can have an advert where you get paid when someone clicks on it but nothing if they dont click.

Someone can have an advert where they pay based on the amount of views. Generally very little.

With the pre-roll adverts which play a video before your video they pay a small amount if the person watches it for more than x amount of seconds and more if they click on the advert.

You need alot of views to make any money. Example on my youtube account i had 28 pre-roll adverts yesterday. 4 people watched the advert fully and i got $0.12c. You would need to be getting 1000's if not 10000's of views a day to make any decent money.

There's loads of ways to make money online.
Problem is knowing what ... and then effort vs reward. Most things can't be first thought of/learnt on a wednesday then by the friday you are making money :(

Reality is you could spend 3-6 months researching, planning and then creating a website/service to only get 1-2 euro a month from it. Logic says stick with it (which is 100% true) but that €1-2 could be it. To hit the proverbial glass ceiling.

I used to play "Second Life" back in 2006 when it was new and interesting. I have very average photoshopping/3D modelling skills so I made some products on there and set them for sale. I haven't logged into the game in two years but it pays me about €60 a week which I cash out throught paypal. I'd say there are a few sites like that around, maybe IMVU is still going, that was a money maker too.

    Hey BrokenArrows,
I was reading alot about the youtube partners program two years ago but recently hear they've changed things about.

Are the requirements still the same as before? (being that in order to apply you have to have a track record of various high hits videos previously uploaded?)

I watched an interview of the Tom Ska guy who made those asdf cartoons (these ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYnsfV5N2n8) which have in excess of 20million views each, and he was saying in the interview some months he can make upto five figures of money from his youtube animations and videos...

They have different levels now. I just have the option to put adverts on my videos but am not a partner.

But ya you need to have a reasonable view count and a certain quality standard. Actually I'm not sure how I made the cut. Lol.

Well ya. If you take that amount of views you will make a fortune. But very few people are going to be able to consistently make that kind of views.

There's also stuff like Mechanical Turk where you do repetitive, simple tasks for small fees. I've not tried it but I might if I can't find anything else. There are a variety of tasks and payments vary from $0.01 to more than $10.00 for more elaborate tasks. I doubt you could make a fortune off it, but it looks as if someone with nothing else on could make a few extra bob.

Its called Google Adsense.I think they do it when you reach a certain view threshold.I got it when my channel had only 25000 views.I think you can apply for it again if you didnt know what to do the first time.Theres a lot of terms and conditions though.
