I have verrucas that just won't die. I've been using salatac gel and a file to wear it down but all I'm doing is creating hard skin that comes away, but the wart remains.

I've read that banana skins or masking tape applied overnight can help.

    Any suggestions?

Also, as I live at home is there any risk of it being passed on if I walk barefoot?

Your doctor will be able to freeze it off for you or you can get kits in the chemist to do it yourself, e.g. http://www.boots.com/en/Scholl-Freeze-Verruca-Wart-Remover-80ml-53g_28270/ These should be more effective than the salicylic acid based gel treatments.

It will be infectious so you'll need to keep your feet covered in communal areas or else it could be spread to other people in your house.
